  1. I guess so since I put a like on your post and you didn’t like mine! 😝
  2. I think Rozema is throwing the ball in the air, and not very fast, which is why Wockenfuss doesn’t have his glove up and extended, although also, the ball is only about halfway there and big league players have great reflexes. I don’t think Gibson is necessarily busting his ass to get back to the base. Given this and the smiling casualness that everyone else—probably all pitchers being overseen by their pitching coach—seems to be displaying, I’m gonna guess this is the first pickoff practice of spring training in late February 1984. The ball on the ground is probably some other pitcher’s prior effort during this drill. The cap and lefty glove on the ground are almost certainly those of Gibson, who was conscripted for the drill.
  3. Yeah? Is she hot?
  4. I am using the most recent Tigers I could find to wear these numbers.
  5. I am using the most recent Tigers I could find to wear these numbers. Besides, I don't think of Matt Anderson as having any more a of a claim to being an integral part of Tigers' history than Chrstin Stewart does.
  6. It's true that when they want to argue against "Democrats" (i.e., anyone who is not MAGA), they will insist we are a republic and not a democracy, because they are Republicans—otherwise they would be democrats, and that would be ridiculous. And yet, they still believe, and are mighty concerned, that democracy is at stake and that Joe Biden and the Democrat party must be destroyed to preserve it. See this, this, this, and this. Yes, that is not consistent thinking, but they never were consistent thinkers, although they will argue that they are the only consistent thinkers, and that you and I are also not only not consistent thinkers, but are ourselves a grave threat to democracy. It doesn't make sense, and it doesn't have to, and yet they will insist it does make sense, and that we don't make sense.
  7. Right—which they are conflating with "democracy", because that's what they are being told their very strong feelings are about.
  8. Good morning ... ... days until pitchers and catchers report. (Sorry, I'm not doing a very good job of this this year ...)
  9. So, Keith at 3B is out in your scenario?
  10. I don't mind losing out on the trade to someone else—I always assume guys are working multiple channels on trades—I just hate when I make an offer, or a request for them to look my system over for possibilities, and they just ignore me. At least tell me, sorry, you don't have the kinds of players I need. That, I would totally understand, and appreciate. No need treat the other guy like an asshole during the process.
  11. It's true that people who have been paying attention and as a result don't like Trump will probably be voting on democracy. Red Hats are being told that democracy is at stake and Joe Biden will destroy it if he's re-elected, so in that sense, they too are voting on "democracy".
  12. The Amboy Dukes also did a pretty good rocked-up version of “Maybelline”, excepting that self-indulgent feedback solo in the middle.
  13. As we all know, it has everything to do with the words they say and nothing to do with the things they do. For proof of that, just remember that during the pre-insurrection rally Trump used the word “peacefully” as a punchline, and that’s the word all the red hats are leaning into to “prove” it was a peaceful gathering on their part.
  14. Is there a reason for this? I just lightly googled and didn't come up with anything.
  15. This song would work well over the closing credits of an 80s light comedy.
  16. You guys who are in OOTP leagues have probably seen plenty of this: one of the other owners will announce that they need to move one of their big league regulars for prospects, you make an opening offer, they say “nope”, and then they ghost you, even after you ask them whether they want to make a counter. Some guys treat trades as a one-shot best-offer-only deal rather than a negotiation, and some even act indignant with you after indicating your offer doesn’t measure up for them. Then they wonder why nobody wants to trade with them.
  17. That’s the way it looks on January 30, anyway, although if there’s one thing that Harris is teaching us, it’s that the Tigers are now capable of zagging after years of predictably zigging. The third base picture might look very different come March. Or not. BTW, I don’t think JHM in left field is entirely out of the question, regardless of the Akil Baddoo signing.
  18. Bold prediction: I don’t think the Tigers will get off to a terrible start.
  19. I think the fans will start coming back this year, and the Lions good season might even help a little.
  20. Yeah, he's super hot.
  21. I think our media is suppressing that.
  22. No wonder this kid rakes at the plate. There’s nothing wrong with his eyes.
  23. "Hey, man, I gotta live in this town ..." https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2024/01/28/detroit-lions-predictions-san-francisco-49ers-nfc-championship-game/72381380007/ https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2024/01/26/predictions-detroit-lions-at-san-francisco-49ers-nfc-championship/72340156007/ Did Wojnowski move or something?
  24. As you said: the ride up is the most special. It's morning in Detroit.
