  1. Phew. I just dislike playing Cleveland more than anyone else. It’s an accumulation of bad memories and not just in the playoffs last year. Rationally it shouldn’t matter what team it is, but I’m a fan and by definition not rational.
  2. What the heck was going on there with Tommy and Dingler and the ump? I had the sound off.
  3. Oh God. Tommy… hope he’s back to normal.
  4. I know Cleveland’s been struggling, and I know their hitting isn’t great, but just out of habit I’m always biting my nails every time we play them. Nice inning by Holton there just now.
  5. So is the wind blowing in or something? We’re getting a lot of balls hit kind of deep to the outfield.
  6. OBP demon Torres walks.
  7. I reiterate, I don’t want to get rid of him, but everyone’s surprised. To get a ready made major league player you can’t only always give up prospects. I can just see how other teams would be interested in him. Maybe the Tigers now consider him untouchable. I have no more insight into this than anyone else.
  8. Wow, Ramirez is just so good.
  9. I wouldn’t want to get rid of him.
  10. I never like these special hats and I don’t like this one either. It looks too nautical for me. It looks like something the Skipper and Gilligan would wear if they did the show today.
  11. Wenceel’s stock is pretty high now, as high as it might get… so he might be attractive to other teams.
  12. Man Olsen is really laboring, 81 pitches in the first four innings, but so is the other guy.
  13. Zach McKinstry homers (6) on a fly ball to right center field.
  14. Wenceel Pérez homers (7) on a fly ball to center field.
  15. Fleet footed Tork beats out a single.
  16. So it was Malloy, who was optioned to Toledo not Dietrich Enns. Can never have too much good pitching <ducks>
  17. I am of Dutch ancestry on my father’s side of the family which lived in upstate New York during the American Revolution and they were Loyalists. We had to flee into Canada after the revolution, thank you by the way for providing us refuge, but we eventually filtered back into upstate New York, and Michigan, and Northern Indiana, because Americans pretty much have no historical memory.
  18. At least you’re surrounded by water. I’m in the desert.
  19. By the way, every game, including this one - unless it’s one of the Apple TV Friday games - is an mlb.tv free game of the day.
  20. I don’t know if I’ll watch the game or not. The last two games have left me feeling like I’m lying in the desert being pecked at by buzzards. I suppose I will, though since it doesn’t conflict with Fourth of July brunch.
  21. There’s no reason to do an official roster change any sooner than necessary, but Reese isn’t a part of the 13 pitcher squad yet. It would seem that they would send down Enns but what the heck do I know? Maybe they have a good idea of how to fix him.
  22. But I really like interleague play. It’s a lot better than playing the other four teams in your own division 72 times a year.
  23. The All-Star game used to mean a lot to me in ye olden days before interleague play was common, especially when the NL had the disturbing habit of beating up on the AL which I found personally humiliating. The only other times when the two leagues met was in spring training, which didn’t matter, and the World Series. So in relation to that, the All-Star game was special. It doesn’t feel like that big of a deal to me anymore. It seems to be more about marketing than street cred, and being interested in street cred itself is pretty lame, but it’s better than marketing.
  24. Wow, Toronto beat the Yankees four games straight to move into first place in the AL East and the Yankees are tied for second place with Tampa Bay.
