I bow to you. Great post. John Smoltz didn’t have a great first year in the 12 games he pitched for the Braves either. Had a 5.48 ERA and a 2–7 record and gave up 10 home runs in something like 60 innings. I bet Atlanta is glad they didn’t give up on him. I think it’s a bit early to pull the plug on some of our young rookies who didn’t appear to be finished products when they were thrown into the fire.

So did the Tigers issue nine walks in nine innings anytime this year? If they did, I think I would’ve remembered it because I like to save my petty grievances in a little compartment in my dark heart and this is a petty grievance I would’ve treasured so I could feel like we were all getting a raw deal and deserved better.

You know, taking a side in this dispute is sort of like taking a side in a marital dispute and you don’t really know either of the two parties very well. At least it’s like that for me. It is encouraging to see two other great teams do dumb stuff though. I don’t really follow other teams that much so this might allow me to be less discouraged by my own club when they do dumb stuff since it’s obvious that other clubs do the same thing.
