  1. Just for the record although most people know how this came about, in 2008 when the Tigers added Sheffield and Miggy and were expected to win the World Series and score 1000 runs -which is roughly 6 runs a game - it turned out to be a really bad year so sarcastically I started asking “where’s my six runs?“ Now there are many reasons to either ask this question or celebrate its achievement.
  2. Aw, shucks, thank you. I’m not one of the smart people, but I am a fan.
  3. I’m laid up sick today with a bad cold so I haven’t been able to follow this game too closely but close enough to be alternatingly disappointed and happy as well.
  4. Wild pitch by pitcher Kody Funderburk. Trey Sweeney scores. Jahmai Jones to 3rd.
  5. Jahmai Jones doubles (7) on a sharp line drive to left fielder James Outman. Dillon Dingler scores. Trey Sweeney to 3rd.
  6. Lots of wasted opportunities tonight.
  7. Do it again Carp
  8. Colt Keith doubles (18) on a sharp line drive to right fielder Matt Wallner. He’s on base machine. Two walks in addition to this today.
  9. Mize with a low pitch count after three innings no runs and 5K’s.
  10. I wondered about that too. It doesn’t seem like moths.
  11. Although I have a knee-jerk disrespect for national broadcasters this Fox team is pretty decent. They seem to have done their homework on the Tigers, and they know some of the major things that the rest of us know about club. I guess that’s setting the bar low but they are at least listenable.
  12. I was complaining about unrelated stuff, but I’m glad Carp hit a homer
  13. I suppose professors in “practical disciplines“ such as business and many other fields may not have the most astute writing ability. But it’s still strikes me as weird. I have a couple friends that are adjunct professors in sociology and philosophy and they’re genuine intellectuals and they would never in a million years let AI “clean up“ their writing.
  14. I never pay attention to the commercials, but the Grammarly commercial where the woman says she’s an adjunct professor and she needs help writing is shocking and dismaying. So nobody - even professors - are not expected to write a cogent sentence?
  15. At least Mize didn’t give up a home run to the first batter.
  16. Torkelson did indeed go with the pitch just to get in a run which was not impossible.
  17. I think the Apple and ESPN definitely don’t do it.
  18. Tork drives in a run.
  19. Yes, the radio feed is off just enough to be annoying.
  20. I’ve noticed these national broadcasts make the strike zone box almost impossible to see.
  21. I don’t have a problem seeing John Smoltz. And he probably wouldn’t have had the career with the Tigers that he did with the Braves, but seeing him still bothers me because I’m petty and irrational.
  22. Oh geez, the Fox broadcast is on MLB.TV. I didn’t think they do this.
  23. I guess I don’t get to watch this game. My local Fox affiliate is of course showing the Yankees Cardinals because those are two “real teams.“ And granted the Tigers versus the Twins does not showcase two “real teams“ but at least one and on FS1 they’ve got drag racing and on FS2 pickleball!
  24. I don’t think it’s raining right now in Minneapolis. How utterly novel.
