  1. I really like not having the strike zone visible on the televised games. This way I don’t get aggravated as much when our guys don’t swing at what appears to be an easy pitch to hit. I don’t end up hating on the umpires. It’s just more pleasant.
  2. It’s a tough call, especially because if they have to baby Jobe’s innings…
  3. Montero pulled after getting the first out in the 5th after 72 pitches. Good day’s work for him and he struck out four in 4.1
  4. Jake doubled in two runs against the Orioles and the Tigers now lead 8–0.
  5. It took Montero 18 pitches but he got a three up three down in the 4th.
  6. Kreidler just homered in the game with the Orioles. They’re not taking a pitch count in the game with the Orioles so we don’t know how many tosses it is taken Skubal to do three perfect innings so far.
  7. That scrolling FanDuel thing at the bottom of the screen with the odds on every arcane thing you could possibly bet on infuriates me.
  8. That was a whale of a catch earlier in the inning by Perez. Either he’s a genius or there was some luck involved in that.
  9. Yeah, they’re hoping I guess that he was working on something in the simulated game that they didn’t want him to work on in a spring training game.
  10. HR and a double for the Yanks v. Montero to lead off the game.
  11. It looks like the Lakeland game is allegedly an MLB TV free game of the day.
  12. I somehow never heard of this guy. Thank you for alerting me to his existence.
  13. “Dalkowski was famous for his unpredictable performance and inability to control his pitches. His alcoholism and violent behavior off the field[citation needed] caused him problems during his career and after his retirement. After he retired from baseball, he spent many years as an alcoholic, making a meager living as a manual laborer. He recovered in the 1990s, but his alcoholism left him with dementia[6] and he had difficulty remembering his life after the mid-1960s.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Dalkowski This is a pretty interesting story. I wonder that if he actually did throw 110 mph the umpires didn’t give him credit for pitches that just nicked the strike zone because they were too fast. Although there’s a good chance, he was way out of the zone.
  14. I wish we had a pitcher like Ryne Duren of days of old with Coke bottle glasses, and a reputation for unpredictable wildness just to scare the heck out of Bregman. This is not the better side of my personality, speaking by the way.
  15. Holy moly, I stopped following it. It’s meaningless, but it’s better than losing I guess.
  16. They left Manning in just long enough and gave him enough rope to hang himself. I’m not happy about this. I don’t dislike the guy. I feel bad about it.
  17. This game is so exciting that it beats watching grass grow.
  18. This is a photo I assembled four years ago when I thought our future was assured. At least I was 33.3% right.
  19. Sorry to hear about Gibby. I have no more insight into this than anyone else. It’s painful to watch the slow decline of a Detroit icon. I at least know that.
