Wow, when they finally got down to the discussion, six minutes in, it is tremendous. AJ is incredibly impressive and thoughtful. In a way he’s like a military tactician who gets the most out of his soldiers. This is one of the best discussions about baseball I’ve ever heard. More discussion less chitchat is good.

Is this the thread where we were complaining about podcasts? I’ve just started watching Jason and Dan’s “new have a seat” and they start with banal chitchat about cake. Why do podcasts have to be so clumsily folksy and informal? Why is this the default setting. I’m sure it’ll get good when they actually start, but for God’s sake, really?

I saw that Sunday’s game against Cleveland begins at 11:35 AM because it’s a nationally broadcast Roku game. That’ll be 9:35 AM for me. Heck that’s early. Skubal pitches and there will be no non-Roku coverage. But you can listen to Dan on radio.

Yeah, he has a good attitude. It’s too bad that he’ll probably be one of the first to go. I supposed it’s hard to get your mojo going when you play intermittently, but I don’t know if he played every game for two weeks that he would get in a groove.

The American League is doing pretty well against the National League right now. The Minnesota Twins swept three from the Giants then took two of three from the Brewers. The Kansas City Royals just took two of three from the Giants on the road. The Angels swept 3 from the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium last weekend and the Mariners swept 3 from San Diego on the road at the same time.

I’m still reeling with amazement. I am amazed at how much they get out of the entire squad. I have cringed in the past when we played other teams that were alleged to “play the game the right way.“ I was also always suspicious of this phrase in general. I’m willing to accept this description now for the Tigers, but it seems they’re not only “playing the game the right way“ but doing it in a different and better way than other teams have done. I know that’s what’s being inferred and it appears to be true. A while ago, someone here posted that the Tigers are merely doing what Cleveland has been doing for years. I have a feeling we’re doing something different. But I don’t bother following other teams closely enough to make a reasoned comparison.

I am absolutely amazed, especially after that first game. Wow. I would’ve been totally OK with a 1-2 series in St. Louis and the idea that we go and actually win the series 2-1 is just astonishing.
