  1. Immediately waking to a home run was a nice surprise.
  2. Whoa! I just awoke from rare 2 hour “nap” in the middle of the afternoon and I’m dizzy as heck. And we score early! I lived in a strange alternate universe where two old time stadiums were crammed right next to each other - only a few feet apart - and were connected by a creaky, old-fashioned delivery elevator that served as a space-time cosmic wormhole. It was a slow, noisy delivery elevator, big enough to hold a model T auto, with an imposing gate that automatically rose slowly and loudly making frightening grinding noises every time you ascended to a new floor. Everything smelled of polished oiled wood and was permeated by the exotic smells of an early 20th century tobacconist shop. There was a news stand off the delivery elevator and it looked like something out of a movie from the 1920s. There were newspapers in foreign languages I couldn’t understand on racks in the news stand, and some of the papers were printed on vibrant yellow or pink newspaper like sports-oriented newspapers of France and Italy. Prominently displayed was the newest issue - 1920s - of the Sporting News printed in St. Louis. The teams were the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals but the ballparks were ancient yet well-maintained. It was definitely not 2025. Out of the delivery elevator as it rose to different floors I could look down upon the ballfields of either stadium if I glanced to either my left or my right and the stadiums were empty as if I had arrived hours before game time, or as if they were yet to be populated because I was in between space time moments where only something or nothing at all could occur. I was hoping to rent a flop house room in one of the hallways off the delivery elevator for $2 dollars a night and was planning to get a shave and a haircut at the barbershop with a hypnotizing, revolving red and white barber pole before the games began and was trying to decide which game to attend when I woke up.
  3. I honestly don’t think they’re as bad as they’ve been lately but they’re certainly not a .667 team.
  4. “And so it goes.“ - Kurt Vonnegut Slaughterhouse Five
  5. Getting ready for my walk along the river today and I’m sitting on a bench in front of a candy store and Mr. Jelly Belly is a little too friendly but at least he doesn’t talk a blue streak. Have a good game fellow travelers.
  6. I’m missing the entirety of this game tomorrow as it’s my day to walk with my pal along the Boise River. Then I’m eating a gluttonous meal of exquisite Vietnamese food, and consuming mass quantities of fluids to wash it down. By the time it’s over this game will have finished. I wish all of us well and all the luck we haven’t experienced for too long.
  7. I gave up on this game and watched Jason Statham’s Wrath of Man instead. It’s not a particularly good movie, but it’s better than this game.
  8. Jake has been getting the putouts at home and now he gets a Weaver.
  9. Jake Rogers homers (2) on a fly ball to center field. Parker Meadows scores. Javier Báez scores.
  10. Pirates challenged (tag play), call on the field was overturned: Zach McKinstry flies into a double play. So we didn’t get a run.
  11. Apparently, yes, they didn’t change it very quickly in the box score but they have since. That’s why I was scratching my head.
  12. Mize at 71 pitches and the third inning isn’t even over.
  13. Mize got charged with an earned run when Tork fell asleep and didn’t even imagine Cruz trying to score.
  14. I think I know what the Tigers are doing. They’re trying to take us to the very precipice of despair so that after the trade deadline when they win 70% of their remaining games they’ll totally knock our socks off.
  15. Lucky squib hit that results in bases loaded
  16. Jake not tricking CB tonight.
  17. That was a good up close shot of the cup readjustment just then
  18. I thought the pirates couldn’t hit
  19. Striking out on that sweeper was sort of predictable.
  20. Javy strides to the plate..,,
  21. Tork was not much of a speedster on that double.
