  1. I don’t really think I’m old, but my body and the people around me disagree. I’m still an innocent eight-year-old at heart who in 1960 placed a ruler on a map and Detroit was 1/32 of an inch closer to my town in Indiana than Chicago so I’m a Tigers fan instead of a White Sox fan. I googled my old address a couple years ago and discovered, however, that old Comiskey Park was actually 1/3 of a mile closer to my front doorstep. So there are benefits to being old. I can’t imagine a world without the Tigers in my life.
  2. Just take a moment to process this trauma then we’re on our way to a real healing journey.
  3. I was already planning on how to spend my World Series emotional bonus check.
  4. I would’ve much preferred a bucket full of runs, but I guess we’re in for excitement²
  5. Thank you for “overmanaging” AJ
  6. Ladies and gentlemen Wenceel Pérez
  7. Now that murderers row is coming to the plate this game is a cinch. This will be like the scene in Apocalypse Now where they sacrifice the cow for the feast.
  8. We need some Parker Meadows heroics big time
  9. I will listen to this game on the radio where I don’t have to be inundated with TV political ads
  10. Ty Cobb’s only friend Tris Speaker was a Cleveland Indian for much of his career.
  11. I don’t want this series to drag on and go back to Cleveland. I want this series to end now. Consider it a mercy killing. The world loves an underdog more than it loves established winners. The Tigers will be doing the world at large a favor by putting the Cleveland Guardians down and giving the world what it wants, the toppling of the idols.
  12. Win this game today then start Skubal on six days rest Monday.
  13. Especially since the Mets had Scherzer and Verlander. Grrr. Yes, I can see going Deadpool on them.
  14. What’s wrong with you people? You all want to beat “The Best?” This is America for God’s sake: the land of mere appearances, where attitude and confidence reign supreme and where no greater substance nestling beneath is required. Of course I’m joking, and it would be more emotionally satisfying to finish beating Cleveland, and then beat the Yankees, then the Dodgers. But great wars are often won for prosaic reasons other than great strategy or superior combat skills. Sometimes an army wins simply because they had more access to food or fuel, so it ends up being kind of lame. if we beat Cleveland and then the Royals and then the Padres people are only going to remember “World Series 2024” and how the Tigers outfought every team while lacking most of the resources that other teams have and that will be considered an astonishing outcome.
  15. I remember spending time at scenic Wallowa Lake in Oregon with the family just short of 20 years ago, back when I wore a Tigers cap all the time, and someone from the Tri-Cities WA area noticed that and they almost hugged me telling me how much they loved their hometown boy Jeremy Bonderman. They were ecstatic. They couldn’t stop talking about him because apparently a lot of people knew him and he was the only celebrity they knew. It was a real Kumbaya “We are the World” moment. Possessing a halfway decent filter about these things I never asked them “What do you think about his first innings?“ Although I wanted to, but I wanted to engage in the lovefest more.

  17. I wonder why MLB won’t let us listen to this? The Cleveland feed was also terminated.
