Sean Casey, playing for the Red Sox, was thrown out twice at second base, trying to stretch a single, within one week. After the second one he was visibly upset in the dugout, in a rage, and so Francona put his arm around Casey's shoulder in a fatherly way, and walked him up the runway towards the clubhouse. I've wondered what might have happened had the timing been lined up to where Leyland retired and Francona was available. Maybe he'd have ended up in Cleveland anyway.
