Is that contract even a drawback though? I think it's perfect length for a 35 year old. He's still an offensive upgrade over Kane, with whom we could cut bait after this season, and 15 months older. Sure, $8mm is much higher than Kane's $3mm, but shouldn't handcuff the Wings. Offer the Preds this year's #1 plus a middling prospect if the Preds retain 25%?

i'm not worried about the contract, i'm worried about the age.  he's got a lot of goals this year, but jis shooting percentage is higher than its ever been in his career.

yzerman has always liked him, so he may deal for him.  i'd rather spend a first on defense this year.

i wouldnt be too upset by stamkos, but by golly i wouldnt be overjoyed!  better than elias petersson...

Stamkos kinda scares me, feels like more of a power play guy at this point in his career so I'm not sure he moves the needle a ton with how this roster is constructed.  But I also I haven't watched the Predators play in a while maybe I'm wrong.

 

I know that Trotz is "stepping down" so I'm not sure if that means the Predators will do a fire sale or hold onto guys for a new GM

Some of these were neat to hear, but was it my imagination or were some of the -sson names pronounced shon and the couple near the end pronounced son. Actually, on Instagram she just answered someone’s question about that: an r before the s makes it sh

I like that Yzerman is apparently targeting players with term.  I much rather that over rentals even though the prices will be higher of course

you almost wonder if the game isn't played so fast on average now that you see less bursts of all out speed because players don't have enough left in the tank by half-way through a shift, or they worry more they'll end up out of gas when the play reverses before they can get off.

Most of you won’t be familiar with this legendary Canucks broadcaster who died today. He did do late night games on Hockey Night in Canada and called Bobby Nystrom’s overtime goal on CBS for their first Stanley Cup. But the final minute of this game is one of hockey’s great calls.  It was our 2nd year in Vancouver and I got wrapped up in that run even though I’m not a Canucks fan.
