I vaguely remember being a bit disappointed that the line-up had not changed that much. I was only 9, so I didn't understand random samples, but when I heard he picked the line-up out of a had, I was expecting something more bizzare. Edited Wednesday at 02:00 PM by Tiger337 Quote

The announcer doesn't know a very important fact. Farmer broke Al Cowens face with a HBP in the year before. Cowens was just waiting his chance to kick his as*. Quote

I remember the Free Press running a picture Cowens and Farmer standing at home plate st Tiger Stadium shaking hands, in a show of burying the hatchet I guess, and they looked for all the world like they still wanted to kill each other. 1 Quote

chasfh Posted Thursday at 02:48 PM Author Posted Thursday at 02:48 PM Just saw that Al Cowens died an early death, age 50, from a heart attack. I could see him having the stress of being angry all the time. That takes a toll on your body. Quote

chasfh Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago The Caesars used to play their home games in a park in East Detroit. I think it was called Memorial Park? It’s was also the first time I had ever heard the Queen song “We Will Rock You” in a sports context. Or maybe it was “We Are The Champions”? One or the other—the songs are connected and were only months old at the time. They played it after hitting a home run, which was, like, a dozen times a game. I also remember a home run hitter they had on the team named, I believe, Rick Trudeau? I can’t believe I remember so much stuff about them since it’s pushing a half century ago. Quote
