1984Echoes Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Andrew Sears 1st appearance at Toledo (didn't start... middle innings...) 4 2/3 inn's, 2 hits, 2 walks, 7 K's. Quote
LongLiveMaroth Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Flukey is a little wild in his first appearance, which I am guessing is part nerves and his mechanics are interesting at least from my very amateur viewpoint but the ride on that fastball is easy to dream on. 1 1 Quote
papalawrence Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Zyhir is off to a slow start, 1-27. That one hit was a dinger. He'll settle soon and start raking Quote

So yes... need him to settle down soon and relax... and henceforth... start raking... Quote
1984Echoes Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Flukey looks like he has a long way to go on the Control and Command side... But I can see where the 1st round attraction is... Quote
1984Echoes Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I've seen a few of those Ankeney highlights posted in here (thank you LLM!) ... I am officially interested... High-A, .349 BA, 1.263 OPS and another single, double, HR today... is he moving up to Erie? Soon? 6'4" 235# RH'd 1st Baseman... 23 years old and a 14th rounder last year?!?! How did he stay hidden in the draft until he fell to us in the 14th? This is just my opinion... But I think Erie/ AA pitching will be the big test. For him. So I'd like to see him move up there the sooner the better. I mean, so far, so good... right? Also... if anyone knows... Who is Win Scott? How did we get him? Is he an undrafted FA it looks like to me? Quote

I doubt they want him that bad unless he goes hog wild to close the year. I would say this though... I don't know about hog wild... but if he's reasonably successful at AA the balance of this year... say .275-ish BA and .780-ish OPS... Personally, I'd really hate to lose him. He has the physical tools, he has power... I would hope they could find room on the 40. Maybe he's just starting to figure it out the past couple of years and he's still only 23... What will the Tigers Org do...? I dunno. Quote

Harris recommended he wear 1/4 zips to his interviews. Doing so convinced people he was a stats dork and not a serious baller. Quote

LongLiveMaroth Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Tigers New Top 10 Prospects according to MLB Pipeline: 1. OF Max Clark (#13) 2. OF Zyhir Hope (#28) 3. SS Bryce Rainer (#48) 4. RatkoVarda Posted August 14 Posted August 14 getting Kash Mayfield to help this team in late 2028 still makes little sense. 10 more Mize starts + the comp pick (and the comp pick $) seems to be significantly more valuable. they must have really wanted to move on Quote

If they're correct... and they "tune him up" with smoother mechanics and better tunneling and maybe another pitch or two... things the Tigers seem to be able to do with several of their pitchers... Then kudos to them. And I'm just going to WAG that he breezes through AA in 2027 after they "tune him up" (may even see AA at the end of this year which they don't normally do but it's not out of the realm of possibilities...) and we see him in September 2027, ready to join the rotation on Opening Day 2028. But I'm just guessing. PS: I do NOT believe they were trading Mize simply because they REALLY wanted to "move on" from him... I believe the Org is extremely high on Kash Mayfield's potential, and that's why they traded for him. Otherwise, why WOULDN'T they have held on to Mize for this playoff chase and an end-of-1st-round comp pick? Your statement makes no logical sense. Quote
RatkoVarda Posted Friday at 06:45 PM Posted Friday at 06:45 PM On August 2nd, you had never heard of Mayfield, but now that he is with the Tigers, you think - as you always do - that he is destined for greatness on an accelerated timeline. Never change. God bless. Quote
1984Echoes Posted Saturday at 02:52 AM Posted Saturday at 02:52 AM (edited) Some lines from minor league box scores that just caught my eye: Malachi Witherspoon started for Lakeland today: 4 2/3 inn's, no runs, 3 hits, 2 BB's 7 K's. JoJo Ingrassia got his 2nd start at WM today (got him from the Red Sox for Jahmai Jones... looks very middle reliever-ish to me...): 3 inn's, 1 run, 3 hits 0 BB's 4 K's. His history is ~ 13K's/ 9 and 3.4 BB's/ 9, but all in low and high A. And he's already 24. Need to push him up to AA as soon as is possible... IMO. Rainer and Ankeney both went 2-4 today each with a single and a HR. Lucas Elissalt got his 1st start for Erie today: 4 2/3 inn's, no runs, 2 hits, 2 BB's 9 K's. (noice!) Zyhir Hope got a hit today (double) so hopefully he can get that monkey off his back and start stringing a few nice hitting games together, in a row would be nice...!
