I've said this before but the stirrups is a good example of changing values in baseball, especially in context of today's game with the things modern players do that some people don't like.  That stirrup look was once considered flashy.  Jim Bouton talked about it in his book.  The generation of black players that began to thrive after integration started wearing their stirrups like that to show more socks. It was their way of bonding with each other.  The old timers of the time didn't like it. 

I see it and it makes me feel like you do... yes, that's how you do it.  It's how I did it when I played.
