SoCalTiger Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago 2 hours ago, AlaskanTigersFan said: They still can be good. You build around Dingler, McGonigle, Clark, Keith, and Greene. If they move Skubal for 2 of the Dodgers OF'rs, then you're looking at a fantastic lineup. Jobe comes back and Madden back next year. Add a FA starter and you got a good young team to build around. We got pitching coming in the farm too. Moving Skubal can help quite a bit. Especially if they can get 2 top(ish) prospects. I could see them getting a package of something like Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota and a throw in like Serwinowski or Zach Root for Skubal still. If the Tigers move Mize, they could also get someone in the top 4-8(ish) range of top prospect from an organization. Also, don't be surprised if Sasaki becomes a headliner piece back in the rumor mill. I still don't think that's out of the question. If Fetter thinks he can fix Sasaki, that could be something of note too. I doubt we could get the games number 9 prospect ( Depaula) for two. months of Skubal unless he agrees to an extension which Boras will not allow. Quote

We'll see but I think we'll get more than that without an extension. Clark is supposedly the #4 prospect according to ESPN. Would you trade him for a WS title? I think most would. Quote

The Dodgers probably, and rightfully so, think they can win # 3 without Tarik Skubal but if they do trade Skubs I hope you are right and the return is excellent. Quote

In skubal case he is a difference maker with multiple starts in a short series. if your say the padres he can be the difference that get you passed the dodgers Quote

They also don't need that many spaces to fill. They have big league ready players down on the farm. Eduardo Quintero might be the best of all their OF prospects and he's #3 on their list (Probably the guy I would want most out of the Dodgers but they won't deal him. Even though I'd rather have him over De Paula). Between Pages, Call and Tucker, the Dodgers might need 1, maybe 2 OF'rs. In there top 15 prospects, 8 are OF'rs. It is house money. And if they can deal two of the 8 to get a WS, it seems pretty brain dead to me. Quote

He ups a team's chances to win the World Series by a pretty big margin. You get two starts in that five-game series. Friedman gets him, that’s my prediction." Outfielders Josue De Paula, Zyhir Hope, Eduardo Quintero, and Mike Sirota are all top prospects. James Tibbs III has hit 11 home runs in 48 games in AAA with a .316/.424/.599 batting line. Alex Freeland has already shown flashes of being an above average player in the big leagues. Emil Morales has a .955 OPS in single-A as a shortstop. And Charles Davalan has looked impressive in high-A. Quote

I agree the Dodgers probably think they can already win #3 without Skubal, so if they were to try to trade for him, I don’t think they would feel compelled to give us an excellent return. I would think our best chance at getting a haul would be from whichever team believes they must have Skubal specifically to upend the Dodgers. The Padres strike me as the team most likely to believe that, at least as of today. I could see the Cubs making an offer as of today, too, and they frequently trade from the top of their system. If everyone is in the same situation two months from today, I could see it go like that. Edited 2 hours ago by chasfh Quote
Shelton Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It’s pretty wild to me that even as of today the tigers are still about 1 in 5 chance of making the playoffs. A lot can still change in the next two months, and there will be a lot more clarity where all teams stand and who may or may not be able to justify being involved in a Skubal trade (including the tigers). The positive part is that there is only one team in the division playing particularly well. The bad part is that it's not like Cleveland is playing so well they are bound to fall back and be easier to catch. I wouldn't count on a WC coming out of this division either. Quote

I think the positive part is that the team we root for was the clear probabilistic favorite a month ago so things can obviously change quickly. But I also wouldn’t ignore the possibility of a playoff appearance coming via the wildcard. It’s a substantial part of that 1 in 5 chance. The rest of the AL has been pretty poor relatively speaking. All that said, 1 in 5 is not what anyone would call a good chance, and it sucks to be here already on Memorial Day. Not what anyone signed up for. Release Zack Short. SoCalTiger Posted just now Posted just now its the wild card or bust . We are not catching Cleveland. They are a solid team that won't beat themselves with more talent in AAA on the way perhaps even this year. Their manager and pitching coach are as good as they come as well. Stinks but true. Teams don't overcome a 20 game stretch this bad with an inconsistent offense and troubling bullpen. Quote
