buddha Posted July 12 Posted July 12 that's what you would hope to see from last year's lottery pick. Quote
papalawrence Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I watched the Tigers instead, but will check out the Pistons on Sunday. Really nice to see how well Holland played. He could have a much bigger role next season Quote
Betrayer Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Nice game from Ron. He looked like a man among boys even though he just turned 20. So disruptive on defense and he was good on the glass too. Still a little out of control at times, but he can get to the paint at will. And more importantly the three ball looked really good. One game is a tiny sample size, but they talked about how that's been a focus for him this offseason and how he's working with Vinson a lot. Holland with a good three point shot would be a game changer for this team. It would mean you can play Ausar and Ron together and just watch opponents cry. Klintman has some really nice passing skills and his handle is pretty solid for a big man as well. I still need to see it come together against real NBA talent to believe it fully, but there might be a rotation player in there with some more development. Quote

Deleterious Posted July 13 Author Posted July 13 I don't know anything about this Lanier kid. His release looks a bit low, which could be problematic. But the release is lightning fast, he gets that shot up in a hurry. Quote

papalawrence Posted July 14 Posted July 14 More and more I believe that Holland can play a significant role on a championship team. So much upside. And Chaz seems like a smooth and steady guy. If he can play adequate D, he could be a good fit. He is a couple inches shorter, but with the very small sample size, his game looks a bit like Allan Houston to me. Quote

But he did average over 7 assists per game for the Cruise last year. Being a two-way guy means he can play 50 games for us. I would be more willing to give him a go rather than continuing the Sasser experiment. Quote

I was thinking about the Sasser spot for him. He's bigger, more of a true PG, plays some solid defense, and seems to have really improved his outside shot. 1 Quote

Shinzaki Posted July 15 Posted July 15 I vaguely recall being impressed by Jenkins in summer league last year. Quote

I had the same thought when watching - that we was definitely at a higher level than most on the floor. For that reason, I discounted the counting stats with the understanding that if he's progressing, he "should" get that kind of output. Quote

Deleterious Posted July 15 Author Posted July 15 Seriously. Who do I call to get these uniforms in the rotation? Quote

These are okay, They just need to dump the black ones and the cream colored ones and whatever ones they’re going to introduce this season. Bring back the reds that they had a few seasons ago. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 15 Author Posted July 15 Kinda odd a 2nd year guy is playing 3 games in SL. Almost feels like they are showcasing Holland a bit. Quote

It's an indictment of Summer League that this has become the perception when a guy plays more than a game or two. The whole point is for these young players to play. 2 1 Quote
Betrayer Posted July 16 Posted July 16 If you take one thing away from Summer League it should be that Bobi Klintman isn't your backup PF in 2025. Maybe he develops down the line, but you can't go into the season thinking he's going to be the guy. While the passing is fun, the turnover rate is way too high to go along with it. Plus, it won't be his role in the NBA anyway. He needed to show that he could knockdown the open three, attack a closeout, finish at the rim, and defend. I saw none of that. Quote

The games are just an excuse to get the young guys into a training camp environment for a week or two so the coaches can put eyes on the new players. These games are trash with a bunch of guys who won't even play in the G-League. You don't benefit from that. Most NBA players will be back in LA next week at UCLA. Then the Rico Hines runs will start. Getting your ass kicked there will benefit you much more than any SL game will. Quote

Then there's clearly a disconnect between the NBA League Office/Marketing Department and the coaches. Quote
