Skinner’s only 26, he has potential.  I agree though that at the moment net continues to be Edmonton’s weakest link.

Bouchard is no Quinn Hughes, but from #10 overall in that infamous draft he is way better than Zadina.

zadina ranks 39th by point shares in that draft.  suprisingly, that's better than joe veleno, who ranks 44th...

Zadina used to have the occasional game where he was active enough that you knew he was one the ice. Just not many.

I was wondering about that. Was it Bouchard? Or wasn't it Dobson? I don't think it was Bomqvist.

I recall the talk being around Bouchard or Dobson ...I wonder if Zadina "falling" to them handcuffed them a bit.  Most people thought he was going to be top 3 for certain, did Kenny and the boys scout him as heavily as they might have scouted the guys that were ranked a little lower?

given late stage kenny's many first round failures, it wouldnt surprise me if they did scout him extensively and just failed in their evaluations.

otoh, kenny seemed to miss by just going for size over everything else (rasmussen, etc), and that is definitely not zadina.

seems like that draft was two players (zadina and veleno) who had high pedigrees dropping and kenny picking them rather than realizing they might have been falling for a reason.

Of all teams, why did Hughes have to be picked by the Canucks. It has been the bane of my existence, brought up on a monthly basis by Canucks fans here I barely even know. As if it's some breaking news revelation that, yes, we should regret picking Zadina over Hughes. Duh. And none of them are aware that, as mentioned in this thread today, the pick was likely never going to be Hughes anyways.

All the chatter I've seen about that draft is that if Zadina hadn't fallen the Wings were taking Bouchard and not Hughes.

Not that missing Bouchard is particularly less painful.
