Jason_R Posted September 26 Posted September 26 We had a two decade run during which the Wings were the best franchise in the NHL. In retrospect they should have started the rebuild earlier. They didn’t, and by the time Yzerman got here the roster was a disaster. Now we have players like Danielson, Lombardi, Mazur, Finnie, MBN, Wallinder, ASP knocking on the door. This is going to be the first season of the ascent. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) Largely the B-team with Danielson, Bear and Wallinder sprinkled in (edit: whoops I missed Finnie's name!). Gibson making his first start for Detroit. I thought Truscott had some moments looking good last game, it did help that not only did he play with Seider but the coaches kinda deployed them in an offensive role with their zone starts. It'll be interesting if they try to lessen some of Seider's shut down role in the regular season. Edited September 26 by slothfacekilla Quote
buddha Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Meh lineup produces a meh game. still not really seeing anything from wallinder except skating. Quote
buddha Posted September 28 Posted September 28 cossa continues to make the case for why he is not ready to play nhl games. Quote
buddha Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Mactavish re-signs with anaheim. so we can end the pipe dream of him being traded here. soon to come: ending the pipe dream of any other big name udfa coming here when they re-sign. the only one who might is kyle connor because he's older and winnipeg are skint. slothfacekilla Posted September 29 Posted September 29 I'm gonna be sick! Saw someone say that Dumba crosschecked him? I didn't see any of the game. Quote

buddha Posted September 30 Posted September 30 for all the good feelings about the wings' prospects to start the pre season, the last few games have been a whole lot of bad. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I feel like the lineups the last couple games have been like half made up of AHL fodder, but I also haven't been watching the last few Quote
Cruzer1 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Coach said that Danielson was going to make the team before getting injured. 1 Quote

Shinzaki Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I think they want to keep Finnie too...and MBN is making a strong case Quote
buddha Posted October 1 Posted October 1 they outplayed the hawks for the most part. hawks spent a ton of time on the power play and couldnt score becuase they're the hawks. i know its a preseason game, but bedard does not look like a generational player. however, its way too early. it took kane a while to turn into a great player too. johannson had a bad game. got walked for the hawks' only goal, took a bad penalty too. larkin and raymond were sleepwalking in that game, which is fine, just dont get hurt. talbot looked good. caveat: its the hawks. mbn looks like an nhl player. very physical. finnie too. elmer? looks like a 4th liner. cant skate. but he did have a nice defensive play tracking back to break up a 1 on 1. asp is going to get targeted and smashed. hope he eats his wheaties. Shinzaki Posted October 2 Posted October 2 That goal by MBN was beautiful..finds open ice and puts the puck on net as soon as it hits stick. He's going to be a boost to the PP 1 Quote
buddha Posted October 2 Posted October 2 asp and gustafsson? good lord, who will play defense? 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I think Finnie is making the team, he's looking good again tonight from what I can see. Good forechecking, making things happen for other players. Quote

Good forechecking, making things happen for other players. finnie and mbn should both make the team but wont. asp isnt ready yet but probably has a better chance to make it (he wont) because their bottom defenders are so weak. wallinder has been unimpressive. buium looked good until he got hurt. they looked real good against toronto tonight. especially the forwards forechecking. elmer, finnie, copp, larkin, mbn, everybody. even rasmussen. buddha Posted October 3 Posted October 3 carter mazur is the real loser here. how do keep him over a guy like finnie? i mean, they WILL, but finnie has been outplaying all of them. can we deal some forward prospect depth for a defenseman? Quote
Shinzaki Posted October 3 Posted October 3 From what I've seen in preseason...Finnie, MBN, and ASP all deserve to stick. Haven't seen as much of Danielson..but the coaches sure seem to like him as well Quote
