I like aggressive base running as much as the next guy, but I don’t like taking pointless chances. I remember a few years ago the Tigers came out of ST with a bunch of steals, them proceeded to get thrown out a bunch of times once the season started and pretty much stopped running altogether. The were doing a nice job on the bases last season but definitely seem to be pushing a notch too hard this season. The trick will be to cut back without shutting it down. Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 21 Posted May 21 As a counterpoint to Torkelson being thrown out at second I asked if Babe Ruth stole many bases AI Overview Yes, Babe Ruth stole a significant number of bases for his era. He is credited with 123 stolen bases over the course of his career. He also stole home 10 times, according to the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). While not known for being a particularly efficient basestealer (meaning he wasn't always successful at stealing bases), he was an aggressive one. He stole 10 or more bases in a season five times, including in 1930 when he was 35 years old. He even stole second and then third in Game Two of the 1921 World Series. Quote

My guess is they can’t afford to have two feeds going at once. I hope it’s because they can’t afford it. I hope it’s not because they’re billionaires simply trying to keep six more dollars in their pockets. Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 21 Posted May 21 I really hate it when our guys walk the first batter but Hurter ended up getting out of it. 1 Quote

If they’re making money handover fist, I can’t imagine the utility derived from a little extra chump change. I hope they’re having a hard time affording it because I am essentially an optimistic person who hopes for the best 😉 Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 21 Posted May 21 My picture’s been flickering a lot lately and I was worried that it was my TV but Dan said their feed was disrupted and he was having a hard time figuring what happened during that at that so I’m glad it’s not my problem Quote
chasfh Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Nothing like hearing Dan Dickerson delve deeply into the game as the camera shifts to Jason Benetti horsing around in the TV booth. 1 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 (edited) Won't be surprised if Scott leaves the game before it's over. That's bad place to get hit. Edited May 21 by gehringer_2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 As Peaches notes, great to see Torkelson going middle/RF twice after an 0/4 day. Call it a sign of a maturing hitter. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Willson Contreras hit by pitch just to let him know who is boss 1 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Lee makes two good pitches then completely loses the plate. 🤷♂️ Quote
