casimir Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 The all time series between Detroit & Tampa is 81-80 in favor of the Tigers. Do with that what you will. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 That’s actually disconcerting. Quote

gehringer_2 Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 (edited) It appears to be dangerous to get too close to a role in the back of the Tiger bullpen. Cisnero out, Jimenez out, Soto out. Does this make Funkhouser or Holland our closer? (Ok - probably Fulmer but that sounds far less apocalyptic) Edited September 19, 2021 by gehringer_2 Quote
IdahoBert Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 I can’t get too worried about all this now. This entire season has been gravy. And aside from that early stretch of awful, the team has somehow risen to the occasion. Quote
mtutiger Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 (edited) I don't understand how Funk keeps getting lumped in with the likes of Joe Jimenez, Bryan Garcia and Derek Holland. He's a step below Fulmer and Soto, but even with his peripherals, he's a decent enough middle of the bullpen guy. Can't say the same about the others. In terms of who gets the back end, Lange is gonna get a look. And he has earned it with his outings of late. Edited September 19, 2021 by mtutiger Quote
Blue Square Thing Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 (edited) Only catchers are allowed to score runs then? Edited September 19, 2021 by Blue Square Thing 1 Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 I did not have the opportunity to follow this game, but I am utterly flabbergasted. AJ and crew have somehow figured out how to squeeze the blood out of the turnip that this team is. This is not just happenstance. It also transcends “luck.“ Quote

He's far from being the MVP of this team. But man, has he eaten some good innings during this later summer stretch of reduced work for the young guys Quote
