I’m not super worried about that as much as I am his overall effectiveness. He’s a high strikeout pitcher so his pitch counts are always gonna be up there the 5th/6th inning. He was doing fine until the walks and the grand slam. He has also pitched well recently. The offense needs to put together some runs more consistently lately. If Carp is hurting, just 10-Day him and get JHen or someone back up here for a bit. Quote

I’ve started to see that word pop up. Is it just a new way of saying “struggling”? depends on what you mean by "new". I'm sure I've been hearing it regularly with that meaning for at least 15 years. I've been watching baseball all my life, and if there is one consistent myth about pitching, it's that you can take a guy who runs out of gas in 5 innings and leave him out there to be hammered in the 6th and somehow if you do that repeatedly he will magically develop 'endurance'. Your endurance doesn't come from pitching, it come from all the conditioning done the rest of the time, the act of pitching at the MLB level is demonstrably destructive to the health of the human body, not productive. If the player's overall program isn't cutting it, repeatedly pitching him to exhaustion once a week isn't going to help, despite the habit that every manager in the the majors seems to fall into. If you have 5 inning pitcher, you have a 5 inning pitcher. You aren't going to do anything about it mid-season. Edited 21 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote

Think 4-6 or 3-7 in the last ten games. That's struggling. "Scuffling" means playing .500 ball. Not surging ahead... but not "struggling" either. It's less bad. More akin to "treading water". In my grammatical opinion. Quote

On May 9th, the Royals were 24-16, 3rd place in the AL Central 2.5 games behind Detroit. In the 30 games since they're 10-20, now 3 games under .500 and 11.5 games back of the Tigers. KC is now a half-game closer to the White Sox than they are to the Tigers. Ouch. Quote
lordstanley Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I'm more worried about the Astros than the Twins. The Yankees are 2 back of the Tigers, Houston is 5 back of the Tigers, the Twins are 9 back of the Tigers. Being the 3rd best division-winner would be practically meaningless, it's just a glorified wild card spot. Best record in the AL would be ideal, but 2nd best record would be acceptable. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago That was a severe butt kicking. I’m not over it yet. I shouldn’t take it so seriously yet I do, especially compared to a high of yesterday. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago LOL Seattle just walked off Cleveland No damage done from Detroit losing today. Quote
