And you don't just toss them to the curb searching for a 2nd pairing D'man.

IMO.

would you have included cossa in a hughes trade?  what about rasmus andersson?

It's a tricky call on a guy who's going to be a FA in the summer anyway. I'd love to see more leagues copy the NBA with a 'sign and trade' system.

No.

Goalie first, fill in the blanks afterwards.

Dude... you've been trying to trade Cossa from the moment we drafted him.

This is not new. I mean from your perspective.

Although I don't think I've changed on this stance either... I've always wanted to establish a dominant goalie as #1 priority; although I still want the "complete" team... just not at the expense of a potential dominant goalie.

So, same answer as always, if Cossa is included... no to Rasmus and no to Hughes.

Besides, wouldn't they make ASP redundant? He would be the first guy to consider being included in a trade of that nature...

And no goalies until we know which one can dominate in the NHL.

THEN I would consider a trade of the "extra" goalie or "blocked by our dominant #1 goalie" guys...

IMO.

you wouldnt trade cossa for quinn hughes?  youre drunk.

its always good to have as many great players as possible, including goalie if you can.  but you do not need a great goalie to win a stanley cup.  ask chris osgood.  or igor shesterkin.  or connor hellebuyck.

I am one of Cossa's biggest supporters around here (I think so at least) and I'd trade him in a package for a real legit difference maker in the NHL right now (ala Hughes).  If the Wings didn't have what seems to be a plethora of good goalie prospects I would be much more hesitant, but goalie prospects feels like the one part of the organization that is easiest to part with in my mind I guess.

Caught this at M-Live:

Cossa’s career-high saves helps Griffins extend points streak

Published: Jan. 03, 2026, 10:54 a.m.

By Ansar Khan | akhan1@mlive.com

Sebastian Cossa recorded a career-high 47 saves and stopped both shooters in the shootout Friday to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Wolves at Van Andel Arena.

The Griffins’ 27-1-1-1 record, good for 56 points, is the best in the AHL history through 30 games. They extended their points streak to 17 games, the third-longest in franchise history.

John Leonard and Dominik Shine scored in the shootout. Cossa, the AHL’s goaltender of the month for November and December, improved to 15-1-1.

Antti Tuomisto tied the game at 2-2 with 2:14 remaining in regulation with his career-high sixth goal. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard opened the scoring at 14:34 of the first period with his eighth goal of the season and extended his points streak to six games. The Griffins are 20-0 when scoring first.

The teams meet again tonight in Chicago (8 p.m.). (Postava won this game too (his first game in two months0 to extend the Griffins streak to 17-0-1… (not 47 saves plus two shootout saves though…)).

LOL - I looked at this pick and thought "Buium is supposed to be bigger than the guy in this pic!" Then realized he was probably standing next to Cossa.

I’ve said this a thousand times. The two biggest barriers to inclusion in minor hockey are time and money, both of which you need exorbitant amounts of now. Rec/house leagues are disappearing in favour of travel teams and later academies. It’s so messed up

A private equity company (or even companies maybe?) are buying up rinks all over the US too.  Messing with pricing, making facilities worse, forcing people to buy their insurance, etc.  Sad to see where the game is going down here too.
