It's not the only factor, but I think it could have an influence. The reason they have that incentive is to encourage teams to promote players on opening day rather than wait a month into the season. Tiger337 Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM Author Posted yesterday at 02:41 AM That debate is over. Harris found his balls last week and the team is all his now. Quote

Not sure what to do with my Roku/YouTube/MLB combo now. Baseball is getting harder to watch each year. Quote

But I really don’t see many older fans having an ability to do that. Quote

Nearly all the important players from the last 2 years were guys Avila brought in. That's why I don't understand the posters on here gushing in their pants about Scott Harris. I wasn't an Avila fan, but Harris has done little to nothing to help the mlb team; things just kind of worked out. And while he has helped the minor league system, let's wait until those guys accomplish something in the majors before people annoint them as future hall of famers. Quote
Tenacious D Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago The recent Evan Petzold pod with Al Avila was excellent. Definitely put things in perspective—25 out of the 40-man are Avila players and he was candid about what went right and what didn’t. Even Chas’ cold, stony heart would be warmed a bit after a listen. 1 Quote

Does Harris get the credit for the Valdez signing? (or blame if he fails) or does Chris get the credit for opening up the pocketbook and approving the money spent? Tough call... Quote

The more I listen to Avila, the more I like him as a person, and the more I doubt him as a GM. Avila brought good prospects into the organization, but as a GM sometimes what you don't do is more important than what you do. JV had to be moved for financial reasons but the Tigers sent $16M to Houston in the deal? Still calling the prospect return for JV a good return? The bad return for JD was because there was no market market for an over 1.000 OPS hitter who signed a big money contract a few months later? Make Zimmerman the first MLB signing of the off-season, over paying in years and dollars, because you thought everyone wanted him? After determining you can't afford Correa, you bid against yourself and sign a batter who struggles to stay in the zone to a long term deal. Correa ends up signing 3 year deal with the Twins which he opted out of. Harris has avoided long term free agent signing and that approach yielded better results than Avila's free agent efforts. Harris has not executed a really good trade, but at least Harris is not trading away All Star talent for nothing. Edited 14 hours ago by Stormin Quote
