This team needs to stop trying to play traditional basketball and embrace the chaos.  They don't have the skill or roster makeup to play a beautiful half court game.  They do have the athletes to play fast and create chaos.

I know it's only four games, but their current pace is 14th in the league.  With this young and athletic roster, they need to be top 3-5 in terms of pace.   Think about the best basketball we saw last season.  It was always when they played fast, both on offense and defense.  High pressure defense, and run run run on offense.  Embrace the chaos.

Denver did that for number of years, results were mixed but it's a totally different game now. It would at least probably be the most entertaining game this team could play.

I suppose the downside risk is that you expend a lot of energy playing fast offense and tough D against a team that walks it up the court and basically rests for the 4th while using 20 seconds per possession. Are your athletes up do doing that for 80 games? That and you can't throw away the ball on half your breaks. 🙄

Exactly.

Give me the Cade, Ausar, Ron, Tobias, Stew lineup. I don't care if you start them or not, but we should see this lineup for 15-20 minutes a game. Three good to great defenders and a couple solid ones. Everyone's 6-6 to 6-9. You can switch anything you want, generate stops, and run. This was the lineup that torched the Bulls and we haven't really seen it since.

The traditional thinking that you need Robinson in there to create a decent half court offense is nonsense because all that does is move you from the 25th offense in the league to the 23rd, while tanking your defense completely. It's not worth it. You're going to suck in the half-court with this roster no matter what. Instead, lean in to your strength: Better defense, more transition opportunities, more chaos.

Also, when you have Jenkins on the court with Cade, stop having Cade bring the ball up. Let Jenkins fight the full court press, not Cade. In fact, stop having Cade bring the ball up against pressure at all. Give it to him once you get to the frontcourt. He's already seeing double and triple teams every time he comes off a screen, why make him work just to bring the ball up as well?

Agreed. That face pace game makes it very exciting. It also increases the amount of possessions. The Pistons didn't even slow it down when they had a lead they needed to protect. Drove me crazy...lol

Our starting lineup has played the most minutes together at 33m59s.  In that time, they:

Are -24.7 points per/100 possessions (All of these stats will be per/100 unless otherwise noted)

Attempt 1.4 more FG's than our opponents, but make 4.1 less.

Their FG% is 5% worse than the opponents.

Their 3PT% is 15 points lower than the opponents.

They attempt 13 less FT's

They create 5.5 fewer assists

They get 6.8 fewer steals

Turn the ball over 11 more times

And they commit 7.5 more fouls

when does cade EVER come out aggressive?

his body language is the most passive of any star i've ever seen.  its almost like he wants you to think he doesnt give a ****.

I still love Ausar's future but the fact teams teams are daring him to shoot is messing with his head.  He can't drive aggressively because teams are collapsing.  And he ends up with some awkward looking drives.

Almost everything we are seeing from this team so far screams they are taking a step back this year.  They better hope Ivey rounds into form quick when he gets healthy.

The Ausar situation is going to become uncomfortable at some point.  Teams are not going to guard him on the perimeter and we don't have the firepower to make up for it.

Was Duncan Robinson this slow to get a shot off with Miami?  Or did he just have more wide open shots?  It seems like he has a real hard time getting shots up against any kind of decent closeout.
