They’ve done a much better job of acquiring future draft assets during their stretch of ****itude than the Wings. 8 first rounders the last 3 years and they have 4 more coming in the next 2 years. They also have 5 second rounders too. Even a blind squirrel has to hit on a few of these. I like the trajectory of San Jose. Have missed the playoffs 7 straight years but were in the conference finals as recently as 2019 and didn't bottom out until 2024. Of course one can easily ask where they'd be without Macklin Celebrini but they sucked at the right time and won the right lottery, to complement u-24s like Will Smith, William Eklund, Collin Graf (44 Pts in 78 GPs this season from a 23 year old who went undrafted), Michael Misa (moved down 1 in lottery but still got #2 overall in 2025), Igor Chernyshov (16 PTs in 25GP this season from a 2024 early 2nd rounder), Sam Dickinson (69 GP this year from a 2024 #11 overall). I know I would be. I think you'll always find a group of fans that bitch for the sake of it and wouldn't be happy even if we won the damn cup. But if we had Bedard to build around, I suspect this fan base would feel better and be more forgiving of the GM. Quote

Hongbit Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Levshunov would’ve already been run out of town even though he’s still not old enough to drink. Quote

buddha Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago and celebrini has been better, which might sting a little. Quote

lordstanley Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I'd put Celebrini, Schaefer and Bedard in that order, but that trio of #1 picks is far superior to the three #1s before them - Slafkosky, Power and Lafreniere - even with Slafkosky coming into his own now and playing like a typical, say, #3 overall pick. Cruzer1 Posted 18 minutes ago Posted 18 minutes ago The Red Wings are not without talent. They should be able to bring up Carter Mazur and MBN next year, and hopefully Danielson. They have a really solid defense, which should be intact. Their goalie situation will be better with Cossa joining Gibson. I think the Wings will have two studs on the left side in Carter Bear and Eddie Genborg soon. I think they need to move on from Kane, Perron, and van Reimsdyk. They need to keep their roster younger and fresher. I think the biggest impact next year will come from Cossa, which will allow Gibson to stay fresher longer in the season. I wouldn't bring back a single UFA next year, and I think it's obvious they need to sign Edvinsson to a long term deal. Quote
Cruzer1 Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago Right now, I consider their defense to be Edvinsson/Seider, Chairot/Faulk, and Johansson/Bernard Docker. If there's a young player they should consider trading, I would trade ASP only to recoup a first round pick for this year. Quote
buddha Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago I would deal ASP. too small. but i doubt you'd get a first round pick back. woukd anyone attach a 4th rounder to get rid of ras? what would you attach to get compher off this team? Quote
