gehringer_2 Posted yesterday at 02:29 AM Posted yesterday at 02:29 AM Talbot needed the win. He wasn't great on the second Caps goal - probably screened but if he's in better position it's still a stop. But was good otherwise. Quote
buddha Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM beating the islanders and then the caps twice is a really good outcome. wings are sitting pretty good right now. Quote

I just looked at xGoals For versus xGoals Against: Seider-Edvinsson: +8.4 (xGF 24.1 - xGA 15.7 = 8.4) Johansson-JBD: +1.6 (xGF 9.6 - xGA 8 = 1.6) Chiarot-ASP: -2 (xGF 17.2 - xGA 19.2 = -2.0) Johansson-Hamonic: -3.3 (xGF 6.6 - xGA 8.9 = -3.3) Edvinsson-ASP: -3.4 (xGF 4.1 - xGA 7.5 = -3.4) Quote

ASP is one of those guys who I can't figure out why he's in the league as a defenseman. He has a hockey skill set but it's much more an offensive one than a defensive one. I guess it just highlights the size of the step up to the NHL (pun inteneded). The NHL is fully of really big guys today. ASP is at too much physical disadvantage to the guys he has to go against. If you are going to keep a guy like that as PP specialist you're going to have to keep him paired with a really good stay at home guy the rest of the time. Gostisbehere V2.0 is probably his ceiling as a Dman. Quote

I'm not going to say Karlsson... But he was -9 in October and -3 in November and -2 in December... So... Maybe he's improving a little bit? I know he'll have his ups and downs (the past week was a big downer for him...), But I expect him to get a bit stronger for next year now that he is experiencing just how difficult the NHL is... Again, I'm not going to say Karlsson... But I am certainly hoping that he can be better than Gostis 2.0. Quote
1984Echoes Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago PS: On the bright side... ASP is 20 years old. And in the NHL already on a 2nd pairing with Ben Chiarot. Quote
buddha Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago asp is fine. his defense is bad as a 20 year old rookie. that's fine. most are. he'll be ok. i'm happy he's in the nhl and learning. Quote
