Hongbit Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Probably an unpopular opinion but I’m starting to really dislike the 100 year uniform. I thought they were great at first but now have started to wear on me. I liked the old timey brown gloves and goalie pads too but now think they look kind of ****ty. They had one of the best uniforms in all of sports and I can’t wait for them to go back to them. Quote

The problem with a 100yr old uniform is that it looks like a 100 yr old uniform. Quote
buddha Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 the wings are one team that should never mess with their uniforms. tigers too. Quote

slothfacekilla Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 I love the gloves with the centennial uniform but I just really like that style of glove. I honestly thought they were going to wear it for the home opener and then whatever special centennial game is going on (is there one?). I didn't realize they were going to be wearing it so much during the season, it kinda killed it for me. Quote
lordstanley Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 Not a Gordie Howe hat trick, but is there a term for a defenseman who stops a shot with his body, stops a shot with his stick, then scores the winning goal in OT? Quote
Shinzaki Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 77 also hit what looked a little like a Jake Roberts DDT during that scrum in the 3rd period 1 Quote

I feel like half the time he forgets he's in the NHL where someone will pop you in the mouth. Quote
buddha Posted Thursday at 12:08 AM Posted Thursday at 12:08 AM sloppy from both teams, but the wings are up 2-0. what happened to winnipeg? from the penthouse to the outhouse in one year. Quote
lordstanley Posted Thursday at 01:43 AM Author Posted Thursday at 01:43 AM Jets cut lead in half, 2-1, 13 minutes to go Quote
lordstanley Posted Thursday at 02:07 AM Author Posted Thursday at 02:07 AM Wings hang on for the win. So 51 points in 41 games to complete a half season at 102 pt pace Quote
buddha Posted Thursday at 03:41 AM Posted Thursday at 03:41 AM about as good as you cpuld expect from this team in the first half. under mcclellan, theyve been a playoff team. prashanth has a nice piece today about the resurgence of copp, and how copp-debrincat-kane has been one of the best lines in hockey, giving the wings two top forward lines. the weakness on this team remains aljo, asp, jbd, hamonic. asp absolutely has talent but must be sheltered in the 3rd pair if they have any hope in the playoffs. hamonic is unplayable. aljo cant be played with asp and will be a playoff scratch on a hood team. they NEED two defensemen, but if they could only get one it would improve them immensely. move asp to the third line with chairot and get a faulk to play second line with aljo/jbd and you might be able to bluff your way to some playoff wins. and i dont want to hear any 84lives **** about justin holl. he is not the answer. neither is wallinder (although i'd play wallinder over holl). Tuomisto has gotta be ready I hope they can pull off a trade for a defender or two, with how the league is just getting into the playoffs means a team could make some noise Quote

The Larkin line hasn't been doing much 5 on 5 in Dec either according to Daniels last night, maybe because Finnie is spending too much time picking himself up after being dumped. Quote

Is he the new Homer? What happened to Marco Kasper. It's kind of an alarming drop off. Looked so promising last year. The Wings are having a nice season but they are extremely top-heavy. Larkin, DeBrincat, Raymond, Seider, then a big cliff. They're in first, but still only 7 points from missing the playoffs. Better keep those guys healthy. Then a step down to Compher, Copp and Chairot - then the cliff. 😱 Though I have to say, one guy playing a little better recently is - I almost hate to admit - Rasmussen. McLelland seems to have him playing faster at least. Quote

Holl is ONLY the answer for dumping Hamonic... I've never said otherwise. I agree that for the playoffs and for the next few months run TO the playoffs that ASP needs to be sheltered even moreso than now so he and Chiarot should be pushed down to 3rd pairing. How do we find a good defensive 2nd pairing (that also adds some offense?)...? Why... Wallinder-Tuomisto OF COURSE!!! (you expected anything different from m'wah?) 😁 Quote

And not just because he is bigger/ stronger than Finnie. I just think he needs to be challenged to "step up". And yeah... I'm watching Finnie constantly put on his backside and it's going to get worse the next few months. Challenge Kasper to step it up, IMO. Danielson can center Ras (or the other way around) and Finnie... and maybe we could also get ourselves an effective 3rd line. Just a thought. Quote

I think Ras is goosed on a line with Nate and Kasper. I think McLellan has been playing those 3 on the 3rd line... a lot recently... Swap Kasper with Finnie and see if we can both fix the top line (a little more strength needed) and keep the 3rd line on an upward swing. I don't think the 3rd line suffers from a Kasper-Finnie swap. Maybe? I don't know what the odds are... But I hope he takes a roster spot on Opening Day 2026-27. Quote
buddha Posted Thursday at 05:03 PM Posted Thursday at 05:03 PM i'd rather see kasper on the top line and finnie back on the danielson "energy" line. maybe if finnie "hits the rookie wall" it will happen? or mbn getting another call up? seems like they prefer leonard to mbn for now. it just shows what they think of wallinder and tuomisto that neither of them are getting a sniff even with hamonic being one of the worst defensemen in the nhl. asp has been bad on defense but he's still here, but wallinder and tuomisto cant get a call up.
