The drought is going to end. Teams 10-16 in the East are 11 points or more behind the Wings with 31 games to go for the Wings. 9th place Leafs are 9 back, I don’t think the Wings have had this much of a playoff cushion, not even 2 years ago in February. Teams 5-7 are 7 back of the Wings. The Wings are not a great team or even a very good team but who is? In the East, I think only Carolina and Tampa are better.

AlJo had a decent game last night..SM must have thought so too as he was out there in some key situations.

I think this is the year we make the playoffs..adding Petersson would give us a hedge against Larkin getting hurt again in March.  EP has been a 1C before

Non-joking, I'd rather do a package of picks and a different prospect than give up Danielson in a Thomas trade.  I honestly have no idea what Thomas' value is on the trade market.  He's an intriguing piece at his age and contract and I think he'd be a great addition to the Wings.

Top 10 protected first round pick, second round pick (or two), maybe a future first with top 5 protection? Maybe you can entice them with Plante's great season so far?  Feels like it would need to be more than Vegas got for Hertl but maybe I'm wrong?

If it's a 2026 1st I don't think it needs any protections (just guessing... but I don't believe 2026 will end up as a top-10 pick...)

For a future 1st... yes, I would want top-10 protection...

Also, I agree not the closest-to-Detroit prospects, ruling out Nate & Buium.

But we have different levels of "interesting" prospects lower down with Genborg, Plante, Buch, Bear, Johansson, etc., etc.

PS: I guess add in Postava, Gylinder, Tuomisto as possibilities... just to see if they bite. Most likely not, but...

i dont think picks alone get it done.  he's 26 and a top line center.

i bet they want at least danielson/kasper and a first rounder.  and i bet if detroit balked, someone else would beat it.  like minnesota.

thomas was - up until this season - a true #1 guy.  like with hughes, those dont grow on trees.  unlike hughes, he's signed to a contract that will be extremely reasonable as he goes through his prime.  and at louis doesnt have to deal him because of that.  you'll have to blow them away.

in the end, its likely too rich for yzerman's blood.  its not his MO to do something like that, especially since this team doesnt seem to be "one piece away."

at least Buffalo had to play Montreal so only one could gain ground. The Blackhawks did force a shoot out and win so Carolina only picked up 1pt.

Pleased that Montreal has lost to Buffalo in regulation and Carolina has lost to Chicago in OT.

Lower body is all I've seen, no clue what happened

ESPN broadcast just said he was skating in the pre-game warmup, with ASP expected to be healthy scratch, but figures Edvinsson must have tweaked something.

Another national broadcast, another panel slobbering all over the Wings opponent. The Wild need to learn to win games against the unbeatable East, bro.
