1984Echoes Posted Friday at 06:46 PM Posted Friday at 06:46 PM Give me Rob Thomas!!! Also, for harder-to-play forwards with some offense... Could the Columbia Blue Jackets be talked out of Marchenko? Or Voronkov? Or both? I realize I'm talking significant packages here... But I would trade Danielson for Thomas. Plus other pieces and draft picks. And MBN for Marchenko. Plus other pieces and draft picks. I dream of a 2nd line with Voronkov-Thomas-Marchenko! Just my 2 cents. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted Friday at 06:51 PM Posted Friday at 06:51 PM I feel like Stanley would instantly become the fans' new whipping boy but hopefully I'm wrong if this does happen. I watch a decent amount of Jets games because my best friend lives in Winnipeg, and I'm honestly never impressed when I watch him play. But he is tall. Quote

Just my 2 cents. thomas is a 26 year old, in his prime, talented two way center with tons of compete signed to a very very team friendly deal. why would st louis trade him? and if they did, why would they trade him for nate danielson - a prospect rated by most in the back end of the top 100 prospects - and a pick likely to be in the 20s (if the wings got thomas)? i dont see it. you'd have to throw in genborg and/or mbn plus a pick to even consider it. this isnt quinn hughes, thomas is SIGNED. hughes was going to walk for nothing. you'd have to blow st louis away. if i'm st louis, i start the bidding at seider. detroit won't do that. but then i say edvinsson and danielson and a #1. that said, i hope youre right. i'd love to have thomas, even if that's not what detroit needs. detroit needs a top 4 defenseman more than it needs a center. lordstanley Posted yesterday at 06:13 PM Author Posted yesterday at 06:13 PM Puck dropped for Avs @ Wings on ABC. Avs have shown a few cracks recently, so don’t know whether that means they’re vulnerable today or will be bearing down extra hard to reverse forms. Quote
lordstanley Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago A few minutes of Avs pressure culminates in the game’s opening goal. 1-0 Colorado. Quote

Mr.TaterSalad Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Here comes the February and March collapse. We're about to be losers of 4 of the last 5 games. This is really starting to feel like the last few seasons now. If we somehow full on collapse again there are serious questions we're going to have to start asking. Quote

For those 6 guys the drop off to next man up is too big. If Simon comes back and the rest of the core stay healthy, they'll be OK, but otherwise not so much. Edited 22 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago 3 bad games in a row. That means no trade deadline moves this year, right? Quote
buddha Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago one injury to a key player and the whole team falls apart. Quote
lordstanley Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Habs and Sabres are playing tonight, both are 3 points behind the Wings. You know that's destined to be a 3-pt game decided in OT or shootout, right? Quote

I haven't listened to the Wings on the radio since he took the gig. Nothing against Woods personally - but it's a pathological thing - It hurts to listen to his voice. buddha Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago i dont know how you can be in the broadcast business for 40 years and never learn how not to say "um" in every sentence. that's my woods critique. Quote
lordstanley Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I'm a fan of Ken Kal. Woods is a familiar voice and has been with the Wings' organization forever, so in that regard I'll miss him. Kind of like I did with Jim Price, but I don't think Price was very good either. Woods is bland and not critical at all and in his world even a last place team is putting up a good fight and about to turn things around. Edited 1 hour ago by lordstanley Quote

We're headed into a full on collapse now. After the last 4 games I expect this to be as bad as the collapse after the Four Nations tournament from a year ago. Your can add a fifth game because they ain't beating Colorado tomorrow. I'm almost don't expect the playoffs anymore. Not quite, but almost. This team has a lack of top and talent and now, apparently, a lack of real depth too. We lose one guy in our lineup or a goalie has a down stretch of games and we're cooked. I don't think one move at the deadline fixes the issue, unless we're talking about bringing in a top talent like a Quinn Hughes. The trade deadline is March 3rd and the NHL resumes from the Olympics on February 18th. If this collapse continues for a week or week and a half after the break, I expect Yzerman to hold onto his young players and draft capital and continue building his plan out. If we see the collapse continue and he makes a move, that to me shows there may be some pressure from above with Chris to get this turnaround going. I doubt that though, because Chris cares about money more than winning. Unless he's in save my job from getting fired mode and feels forced to make a movie, I don't think it's necessarily true that he's making a move. Edited 1 hour ago by Mr.TaterSalad Quote
