IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 07:01 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:01 PM I want to reiterate that I do not “hate“ the WBC, even though I’m not interested in it in the least bit. But one of the things that makes me roll my eyes is how all the announcers are making a big deal about Skubal pitching “only once” in the WBC and explaining it because “he’s looking at a big payday.“ Maybe he sees it as an intrusion into his usual spring training regimen and that he’s actually focused on the Tigers just because that’s what he does. Full stop. Although he probably wouldn’t look at it in this manner, because it’s the way I’m looking at it, it’s a corporate profit maximization scheme. Why sacrifice your health for the sake of a corporate spectacle? Of course, everything is a corporate spectacle for profit maximization, but this just strikes me as an egregious version of it. 1 Quote

The whole concept of the WBC during spring training, during players ramp up period, has always seemed disrespectful to players health, especially pitchers, putting them in intense competition before they are 100%. I don't blame a player for wanting to stick to his routines. 1 Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted Tuesday at 11:01 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:01 PM The WBC does nothing for me. I only care about the Tigers that are playing in it. Judge/Skenes/Raleigh/Harper/etc are all still the enemy to me. Quote

CMRivdogs Posted Tuesday at 11:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:29 PM Alex has done some commentary for the Tigers in the past. He's good. I think he's worked for a few teams since he retired 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:31 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:31 PM I can’t believe that Madden got out of that inning against that kind of a lineup. Wow, and he strikes out Vlad Junior to end the inning. Double wow. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:34 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:34 PM Vlad Junior misplays McKinstry‘s ball for a single. Hey this is kind of exciting and this ballpark even though it seats only 13,000 just feels electric. Quote
Crazy Cat Gentleman Posted Tuesday at 11:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:37 PM McGonigle gets a couple more RBIs on a single. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:38 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:38 PM Kevin McGonigle singles on a line drive to right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. Zach McKinstry scores. Thayron Liranzo scores. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:46 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:46 PM The announcers are talking like it’s just possible maybe unlikely but it could happen that McGonigle will make the team and “force the Tigers hand.“ phhtt 1 Quote
Tigermojo Posted Tuesday at 11:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:49 PM How do you sit that kid down and tell him with a straight face he's not ready? Quote
Crazy Cat Gentleman Posted Tuesday at 11:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:49 PM Madden might have a slightly harder time getting out of this unscathed than he did last inning. Quote
Crazy Cat Gentleman Posted Tuesday at 11:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:53 PM or getting out of it at all Quote
Cruzer1 Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:55 PM Tigers can have him eligible for ppi if they bring McGonigle up early. I think he's ready now. He's the best hitter on the team. Quote
chasfh Posted Tuesday at 11:56 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:56 PM McGonigle crushing another ball, single to right. That guy is coming north at this rate. Quote
chasfh Posted Tuesday at 11:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:58 PM I don't know who Matt Seelinger is, but I have a feeling I'm not going to have to learn. 1 Quote
