Deleterious Posted Wednesday at 02:45 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:45 PM Anthony Edwards will miss 1-2 weeks due to a knee injury. Minnesota is currently tied for 21st with two other teams. They are 3 games back from Toronto and Phoenix for 20th. 1 Quote

Deleterious Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I would say the #1 seed is now up for grabs. The Pistons schedule isn't that difficult, but Cade is everything for this team. They are 7 games ahead of Minnesota. So they should be safe there. Quote
Deleterious Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Playoffs start April 18th. Even if he is back for the 1st round you have to worry about his conditioning. Quote

The ball-handling is now going to be Sasser & Jenkins, with Ausar and some others mixed in. But I think primarily with those two (it's what they did after Cade went down...). And they were able to find Duren at a more-than-adequate rate. But... Look out below... Quote

"Look out below" means that I think this team is going to go on a losing streak... Do you think the Pistons are going to go on a WINNING streak with Cade out? Because then I'm going to ask you what are YOU smoking... bruh? (I know that last one is a rhetorical question...) Quote
Hongbit Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Schedule the rest of the way: @Wizards vs Warriors vs Lakers vs Hawks vs Pels @ T’Wolves @ Thunder vs Raptors vs T’Wolves @ 76ers @ Magic vs Bucks @ Hornets @ Pacers Dont see anyway they hold off Boston for the 1. 5 games up on the Knicks for 2 should still be doable but that will be predicted more on the Knicks than the Pistons. Deleterious Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Boston has a more difficult schedule IMO. Tatum probably sits on the back to back, so either against Atlanta or Charlotte. Boston has 13 games left. If they maintain their .667 winning% they end up with 8.6 wins, so call it 9. That puts them at 55 wins. Tiebreaker is head-to-head which Detroit owns (2-1). So the Pistons would have to win 6 of their remaining 14 games to match 55 wins and keep the #1 seed. Let's also remember. Detroit was 0-3 at home in the playoffs last year and 2-1 on the road. Quote
Betrayer Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Collapsed season. This was seriously painful news to hear this morning. If he's back for Round 1 you can probably expect him to be on a minutes restriction and have some conditioning issues. Only possible good thing I can imagine coming out of this is we slip to 2nd place, manage to get through Round 1 while Cade is working himself back into shape, and get to face the Knicks in Round 2 with a healthy Cade (and Stew) for our revenge. That's the best "Glass Half Full" I can come up with. As for the rest of the season, I'm guessing JB starts Jenkins in Cade's place. I'd actually consider just letting Ausar initiate the offense. We've seen him be the lead initiator before when Cade was out and it worked decently well. Ausar guards the other teams PG every night anyway, so less cross matching is needed. You can put another spacer in there to help spread the court for Ausar + Duren pick and rolls. I'd slide Green into the starting lineup at the SF. Javonte is our only legitimate 3-and-D player, shooting 37% from beyond the arc this year and whopping 50% from the corners. 1 Quote

The Pistons have played reasonably well without Cade, the schedule doesn't look that daunting. 3.5 games is a lot of ground to make up with only 12-13 games left. I don't think this is a death blow to the season. Assuming that this is a 4-6 week thing for Cade to get fully up to speed, they'll likely have to navigate Round 1 without a fully functional Cade. It'll be tough but it's doable. Edited 9 hours ago by NYLion Quote

I don't know. There's 14 games left and if you look a bit deeper into how these teams have been playing more recently, I feel like it's actually a tough schedule. Washington, Golden State, Philly, Milwaukee, and Indy - All bad. There we agree. That's 5 probable wins, but the other 9 games... LA is 9-1 in their last 10 and they're on a tear. ATL has won 10 in a row and is the hottest team in the NBA. NO is 6-4, playing much better with no pick to tank for. MIN is a handful and we play them twice. OKC - just call this an automatic loss. TOR just beat us when we actually had Cade. ORL has found their groove and are 7-3 recently. CHA is playing well and are also 7-3 recently. That's a tough road without Cade and with BOS breathing down our necks. Quote
Deleterious Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago None of it matters if Cade isn't back for the 1st round. This team can not win a playoff series without Cade, even against playin teams. Quote
1984Echoes Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago This is just my amateur observation: When Daniss is playing with the starters... he plays great. When he plays with the bench players... he doesn't. My guess: the defensive focus is on him as the primary ball-handler when he's running the bench, and the bench scorers he is with aren't great... and he struggles/ can't handle it. At least not yet in his career. When he's with the starters... the focus is not directly on him, he is with better scorers, and he plays a whole lot better. We'll see how much that changes with Cade out... Quote
1984Echoes Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Also interesting... That Tobias is taking over a portion of the playmaking with Cade out... 6-0 assist-to-turnovers the last game... and 3-1 already this one... Interesting. (To me at least). Edited 5 hours ago by 1984Echoes Quote
Deleterious Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Trying to extrapolate anything from a Wizards game is useless. Quote
1984Echoes Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Daniss observation is from the past 3 months... I know Tobias is only these two games... but it's still interesting to me to watch and see if Tobias attempts to keep this up... I'm not taking anything from Duren because the Wizards have no one to stop him. Unlike other actual playoff competitive teams... Quote

Minny, OKC, Atlanta, Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, Toronto, Charlotte, Knicks and Orlando. Of their final 12, they play 9 of 12 against play in or playoff teams and the play in teams in the east this season are pretty strong. If the Pistons go, lets say, 7-7, the Celtics would have to go 10-2 as I believe the Pistons win the tiebreaker. That's a tall task for the Celtics even with the Pistons not having Cade and it's not like the Pistons have been junk without Cade this season. Edited 5 hours ago by NYLion Quote
Deleterious Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Smart move by Jenkins. Get 2 weeks worth of misses out of the way in a single night. Quote

It's nice leading the East and it would be a pretty big collapse not to win the Conference. It's the 1st round that will be a bigger challenge. Even if Cade is back, it's a lung! He'll need to be on a minute limit...Hopefully he'll be OK. Quote
buddha Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago they played a team actively trying to lose. please dont extrapolate anything from this game. daniss jenkins is a 3rd string point guard. its great for him. he's got a contract. that's wonderful. he's not a playoff nba player. Quote
