No one was covering 1B so McG beat it out fair and square.

If the 1B'man would have thrown home it's possible they would have ruled it fielders choice.

Jake broke for home in a really good job of base running. There wasn't a play at home and like you said, nobody was covering 1st base. It was a hustle play for Detroit, all the way around.

But...perspective...play .500 on the road...and after Skubal wins today...we'll be......500.

I don't agree he is only a ninth inning pitcher.  His splits suggest he does well in 7th and 8th as well.  If he really is a 9th inning only pitcher though, then he's not a good fit for a Hinch managed team.

I have a feeling it’s more that all of our relievers stink when coming in with inherited runners.  Except maybe Holton.
