gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 can you even say the Tigers Threatened when there is so little chance they would have scored? 1 Quote

Tigermojo Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Is there a doctor in the house? Can we check to see if any of these guys has a pulse? Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Wenceel had two good pitches to hit in that AB, took one and fouled the other off. Too many Tigers getting good pitches and either missing them or taking them. Quote

Sports_Freak Posted May 10 Posted May 10 The Tigers are a very good team, we just need to get healthy. Pitching depth, or lack of, is really showing up. Once we get Skubal, Melton, Vest, Javy and Torres back, we'll go on a roll. We just need to survive the next month or so. Luckily, our division stinks. Chins up, it'll get better. 1 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 I think it's been the book on the Tigers for a while that they will take strike one most of the time. Certainly been true tonight - though Tork swung at the 1st strike this last inning. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Just now, Sports_Freak said: The Tigers are a very good team The are not a 'very good hitting team' though - they are a pitch 1st team, so when the pitching isn't there, it's gets pretty rough. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Madden threw 4 great innings. Unfortunately he was in the game for 5. Quote

gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Madden out for a 6th inning. If he doesn't give up a run he will have pitched a quality start in relief. EDIT: and there it is, 6 IP / 3 ER. Edited May 10 by gehringer_2 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Strike one to McKinstry was also ball -.....😡 Edited May 10 by gehringer_2 Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Without trying to, I completely forgot about this game because I got caught up in following the entire five hours replay of the Paris-Roubaix race on Peacock, where my boy Wout van Aert defeated Pogacar. When it first aired, I slept in late and caught only the last three minutes, so watching the entire race was incredible. It’s a drag to lose this game, but I’m not surprised we did. It’s a shame how these guys can’t figure out how to score runs. This is turning out to be a disappointing season so far. Heck. Quote
tiger2022 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 The problem is the offense has weeks where they just don't do much. Doesn't matter how many of their pitchers are hurt, they just can't hit. I was hoping for a 3rd baseman or outfield bat, but instead got a 43 year old washed up relic just waiting to go on the IL and a decent but massively overpaid ground ball pitcher with the worst infield defense in the league. After Wout won, the interviewer said it was impressive how he’s never given up. And he said “actually that’s wrong because I’ve given up many times, but I get up the next morning and I start looking to the future and I start training again and start healing from my injuries and I get going again.” I’m paraphrasing of course, but that’s the gist of it what he said, but honestly, I think that’s what the Tigers are going to do because they’re professionals even though they’re going through a rough stretch. GO TIGERS! Quote

No pixie dust this season for McKinstry or Jones, Javy and Torres down, Keith in some weird place, nothing from Jake, neither Torkelson nor Green have been consistent. They are what they are, which right now ain't much. It's been Kevin and the eight dwarves. Edited May 10 by gehringer_2 Quote

And is there a least impressive .300 hitter in the league than Riley Greene (well, maybe Colt Keith)? Edited May 10 by tiger2022 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 10 Posted May 10 The only positive take away tonight was that Madden saved the BP for the next few days, if they can hit enough to take advantage. Quote
