you didnt like any moves they made this offseason.  theyre going to play okorie a TON and you think he should be in the g league.

so many teams in the east have gotten better and the pistons treaded water or went backwards.

i get it.  they try hard.  but there will be less teams tanking this year, and a much harder schedule.

i'll take the under.  i think 50 is their ceiling.

50 is their ceiling? I'll take that bet quite easily. I'm not very high on the team either but there's no way that a best case scenario is 50 wins, I know that you always lean pessimistic but that's just way too pessimistic. The Pistons are a team made for the regular season, they have a player who is a matchup problem for just about any team in the league and they're deep just like last year and teams that are deep tend to play very well in the regular season. Playoffs is where depth matters less and where you need multiple scoring options and playmakers and that's where the team as currently constructed will struggle but this will likely be another very good regular season.

Agree.  Cade is going to get significantly better,  Ausar is going to get a lot better, Duran is regular season all-nba.   Joe and Collins are solid additions.

everyone else is better.  there is no incentive to tank hard this year.  last year 1/3 of the league was trying to lose.

its not that i think the pistons are much worse than last year, its that i think a lot of other teams got better, and it will be harder to win than last year.

they could ultimately be better and still not win 50 games.

Washington, Atlanta and Philly could be much improved. If Orlando can ever stay healthy they'll still be a match-up problem for Detroit. Knicks should still be at or near the top of the East. Boston and Cleveland will still be in the playoff mix. 50 wins seems about right for Detroit. But the ceiling is more around 55. I won't be surprised by any total between 45-55.

It's been a rough stretch for Buddha, so we should probably go easy on him.

Victor lost in the finals.  France lost in the World Cup.  Le Pen is running again.

Poor guy.

I am not impressed with this off season at all so far.  Its not over but I would be surprised if a move happened before the trade deadline.  Although lets not forget the Pistons are a very young team and all players will get better.  They should be above 50 wins (unless injuries or something else happens) and I would take that bet in a heartbeat.

i wouldnt assume their young players will automatically get better.

there is a world where ausar cant shoot or dribble any better than he does now, that duren peaked last year and that cade has reached who he is.

that's great for cade as he's already one of the best players in the league, but he might not get BETTER.

progress is not always linear.

All the guys that they traded for or signed are relatively inexpensive, and make great trade deadline fillers.

Plus... if we're playing at a roughly 50 wins pace... our future draft picks look ever so slightly better (than running at a 60 games pace).

I predict New Orleans to suck bigly, again, this year.

I also predict their price for Trey will come down just a little bit at the deadline, and that Trajan will trade Holland and Duncan + (3) 1st round picks plus a couple swaps for Trey Murphy. I know they've already turned similar down... and Trajan most likely didn't offer that or was reluctant to do that... And NO probably asked for Ausar and Duren plus 1sts for Trey...

I'm just sayin'...

I think it gets done at the deadline. At the price I outlined.

PS: C'mon Holland... show SOME kind of growth on offense that actually makes you a tiny bit desirable by NO. Please.

ku rumors.  rumor that they want a short term deal for duren.  more money up front but less years.  3 year deal for something close to 40 per year.

ausar extension in the works.

stew was pissed that he didnt play more in the playoffs.  too bad, stew.  they thought reed was the better player and he makes more money.

pssssttt...hey trajan, reed is better than the guy youre about to give $40 million per year....

nobody was giving up a young player, 3 first round picks, and 2 pick swaps for trey murphy, kevin durant, or kawahi leonard.

ku really loves ron holland for some reason.

This is the offseason talk every year. Remember last offseason when Atlanta and Orlando were supposed to push us to the 5 seed? How'd that work out?

This is still a top 4 regular season team barring a Cade or Ausar injury. I'd argue they got better (marginally), not worse.

Who did they lose?
- Tobias - can't hit an open three and usual won't take them.
- Stew - couldn't stay on the court.
- Caris and Ivey - that's addition by subtraction

In their place they added the thing so many people whined they needed most - three point shooting. Joe is an elite NBA shooter and Collins is a much better shooter than Unc. I don't care who is taking the Caris/Ivey minutes (Joe, Huerter, Jenkins, Okorie, Green, Holland), it'll be an upgrade.

This is before we even get into improvements from the 22-24 year old core.

Don't sleep on Toronto.

They also took Cleveland to 7 games last year.  They did it without Quickley playing a single game and Ingram missing 3 games.  They are a top 5 defense with multiple guys that can score.  If CMB makes a jump from his rookie season, Toronto could be difficult to deal with in the playoffs, with or without Kawhi.

pistons slappies (looking at you ku) have one opinion on the pistons offseason and neutral observers have another.

i think the truth is somewhere in between.  they started to FINALLY build a team around cade by getting shooting.  but to do it they gave up defense and a little bit of their identity.

so we'll see.  i dont think they got what they needed to get: a secondary creator plus shot blockers.  but they did get shooting to space the floor and they got a guy they think WILL be a secondary creator in the future in okorie.  i get it.

but the rest of the east got better and the pistons messed around on the margins, so i think they wont win as many games as last year.

moreover, they didnt go all in for a second star, so were still hoping for internal improvement.  come playoff time, without any in-season deal, they're likely a first or second round out again unless cade turns into superman.

pistons over 50.5 wins is +105

under is -120.

so all you guys who think i'm crazy, go put your money where your money where your mouth is, you'll get really good odds.
