The secondary market for any decent game in any sport is absolutely bonkers.

Everyone's heard about the Knicks game and the six-figure price for lower level seats, but try this on your imagination: my buddy in Boston looked into a World Cup game at Foxborough. The teams are Haiti vs Scotland, not soccer powers by any stretch. Cheapest ticket to get in: $700. Just to get in. For teams of nobodies that won't even get out of their group. Add in $150 for one of only 5,000 spots of parking for a 69,000-seat stadium, or else a special train fare of $80 from the city. I can barely imagine how much concessions or World Cup merch must cost, but one thing I know for sure: you can't be anything less than upper middle class to get into a desirable game anymore.

It confuses me how there isn’t more regulation and enforcement on what is essentially scalping.  Average people are being completely priced out of everything.  

My cousins and I are trying to get decent (not great-just decent) seats to MSU at Notre Dame this year and it’s gonna be $400 a ticket unless we wanna sit in the nosebleeds in the corner of the endzone.

That this government doesn't regulate scalping by ticket brokers doesn't confuse me at all. Any additional discussion about this might be a better fit for a different forum.

I’m fine with the pinch hitting strategy….but Jones has failed time and time again this year.  Cut him and find someone else to try the strategy with.  Preferably someone who can also play defense.

IDK - Sports are great, but even when I was rabid undergraduate football fan, I never got enough thrill out of going to a sporting event to have paid more than a decent restaurant dinner for 2 to see one in person (even if I had had it 🤑), which is probably about I paid for rose bowl tickets back in the day.

My cousins and I are big Notre Dame fans (we have a lot of family history in South Bend) and now that I’ve moved back to Michigan after being gone for 20 years, we decided we were going to go to our bucket list ND rivalry games.  So we went to the OSU/ND game in 2023, the FSU/ND game two years ago, couldn’t go to the USC/ND game last year, and we are going to Miami/ND this year and also want to do the MSU/ND game since things didn’t line up to go to one last year.

We go early and tailgate all day and make a whole thing out of it.  So it’s more of a complete experience for us than just simply going to a game.  Otherwise I’m with you though—I’m not going to any sporting events anymore unless it’s something I really want to see and have close friends or family to go with.  Too expensive and the TV coverage is good enough now to where it’s a plenty acceptable alternative.  
 

The lone exception is that I’ll go to any Tigers game I can if I’m on that side of the state.
