Lots of times an outfielder will run after a ball hit into the gap, reach out, catch it on his feet, and then dive to the ground to elicit applause. At least that's how it looks to me a lot of times, and I think there are lots of players capable of willfully deceiving us in that way just to get the applause. It works, for sure, but it looks cheap when it happens.

That is NOT what happened with Riley on his catch. He reached full extension with his right arm, glove turned back to the plate to catch the ball, and was airborne when he made that catch. That was a legit leaping grab. Nothing cheap about it. No notes.

Man, you just cannot stop the kids McGonigle and Dingler. They are just super consistently good all the time. Imagine having two or three more guys just like that.
