you dont think larkin will be booed at all?

Like I said, maybe some, by part of the crowd, but if he's playing hard it will be over fast. Wings fans are frustrated, all they want to see is something that looks like progress. If a new GM comes in make all the right noises and Larkin is part of team scoring some goals, no-one is going to be unhappy about that. Sure I - and maybe many others,  think they missed the best chance for a turnaround in Yzerman's decision not to go young before the draft, but that mistake was Yzerman's, not Larkin's or the new GM's,  and it's water under the bridge, just give us reason to believe things have starting moving in the right direction now.

It’s interesting that neither Larkin or his representatives have said a word.  Not even planted leaks that agents like put out to the Eliotte Friedman’s of the world.  Tight lipped even as Larkin has been getting roasted.

We still have no reported reason for him wanting out, no comment on if he plans on honoring his contract if he’s not traded.   It’s weird as hell how they’ve chosen to play this out.

This whole thing is a complete disaster.        Meanwhile the career of one of the team's best defensemen in it's history, gets wasted.

If he does come back, at a bare minimum, he will have to do an interview to clear the air with fans. I think you are right that a lot of fans, and probably even most, will forget about this after the first goal. But some people will hold the grudge forever.

It might help with some.   I didn't like him before this and even less after how he handled this so he could do 50 interviews and my opinion won't change.   Soft as a marshmallow mentally and physically.

Larkin returning will be like a dad bringing his new wife to a family gathering. Everybody will just have to smile and grit their teeth until the 2027 trade deadline when hopefully the charade will be over for good.

Oof… he’s going to start the season with them and get booed into oblivion before the first road trip.

How many home exhibitions games will there be to clear the air before the season starts?

It is interesting that the front office moves did even generate a peep out of Larkin's camp. It makes me wonder if HSJ got the original story from Larkin's camp or from the team.

My theory is that the Wild leaked the trade negotiations to try to put pressure on the Wings to accept their crappy offer but it is just..... wild speculation by me.  At first I figured it was Larkin's agent but the fact that they don't seem to be saying or leaking anything made me suspect the Wild.

that's not so far fetched on the initial leak. I think the list of teams leak that came after had to be the Wings - a negotiating partner wouldn't know it (unless the Wings are really terrible negotiators) and I can't imagine why Larkin would want to put out that he's being difficult.. He could just have had his agent tell the teams that he was interested in to give the Wings a call. The 'list' leak seems more like a PR move to build public support for the FO.

Oh ya my bad I thought it was the initial leak referenced, I was confused!  I definitely agree with you the small team list has to be from somewhere in the Detroit org.

This is probably right, but if so, Larkin/Brisson made an error in not coming out right away and “clarifying” the report. Even lying and saying publicly that Larkin had informed the Red Wings that he was open to a trade would have made this situation much easier for all parties. But Larkin didn’t make this decision because it was the smart decision.
