Eighty percent of my social media, at least 80%, is this website right here. I never post at X or Bluesky, and I have stopped commenting on others’ posts; I post only travel stuff and comments on FB; and I have no presence on anything else.

Even so, once they start pairing up our posts here with our PII—and it wouldn’t take much for them to do so, if they haven’t already—then you, I, and a lot of others here are done for.

The only solace you have is to flood the zone.  They couldn't kill everyone on the street with Renee Good and Alex Pretti.  Tucking tail and being the fastest guy when the zombies are chasing your group only works so well.   I am enjoying the FB experience now that me and my fellow Nevertrumpers are being fed a non-stop feed of outrage.   I also enjoy Bsky driving out the bots and trolls.  My philosophy right now is this.

Being a citizen who has never been armed, I’m pretty sure I’m gone in the first wave of ordinary citizens. My only hope to go out on my own terms, such as it would be, is to obtain a single pistol and single bullet, and drill with it to make sure it works as intended when it’s time. And when they come for it, and me, that’s when it’s time.

My special needs son often uses my accounts for searching stuff.... really important things like highway billboards and personalities he sees on TV and maps.  I wonder what that does to my algorithm and what they know about me.  I also like to do just random searches, just gibberish that will lead to something.  Then I start clicking on things that it assumed I meant. I don't worry about it myself.

I watched a neighbor get hauled off to jail with a Homeland Security Investigations van sending a bunch of guys into his house.  That was like a decade ago.  Back then my first instinct was...was he trafficking in stolen art?  Of course it turned out to be child pornography.   A sophisticated authoritarian regime would figure out how to plant that on people's devices.  Which is all to say...if they want YOU they can get you.   These clowns (the Noem/Lewandowski/Bovino crowd) lack that subtlety.

The DOGE crowd do not lack that subtlety.

Coworkers and I were going to ask the various AI tools tonight if manatee could be made to be a slave work force for humans and for instance can manatees be made to chop cotton.  Also, is that a good idea to use an aquatic beast incapable of rapid movement to be a land-based work force.
