Up until Iran, I had felt that the combination of Democratic turnout energy and GOP voter disillusionment (as in "i'm not voting for anyone") would be the bigger factor in this cycle that the number of voters that actually change sides. e.g. MB just linked a tweet from the Ohio primary claiming that participation on the GOP side of the primary was down. But depending on how Iran ends and how long it takes for gas prices to come down, I think the calculus on how many people do actively switch sides can change.

True. Once Sheed came, that last title team just took it to another level. I think people forget sometimes that before that trade the Pistons had that same feel. Gosh, they are so good, but this feels like what happened in the playoffs a year ago could very easily be the end result for what ended up being the third title season. But about two weeks after that trade for Sheed, I think most of us here knew this was going to be a tough team - at least until the NBA Finals. It's easy to forget there was a lot of doubt in this area that the Pistons could beat LA at the time. -
I have been fooled before, but i'm starting to come around on Green. I don't think she's bright, but I am starting to think she went to congress for 'the right' reasons. (I'm not advocating that her 'right reasons' were good, just saying she may have truly felt she was fighting for the good) It took her some time to realize the new swamp was the same as the old swamp (possibly worse). At the time she appears to have decided to publicly go against Trump, that was still a death sentence though, especially in hard right leaning districts. So choosing to run might have actually looked like less serious action than stepping down and using the media like she has to put doubts in MAGA minds. It's not all about using Carlson and Green to flip people from red to blue either. I didn't flip to blue in 2016, but I didn't vote red either. So they may not flip folks, but it can cause them to not support the GOP either. I suspect not all of you will agree with that last statement, but man, when I point out something shady Nessel did, or something stupid Whitmer did, even though I voted for them and will continue to vote blue until a major political change within the GOP, it's met with fire. Winning over voters from another party is a home run, but disenfranchising them from their own party still puts runs on the board if you get enough of them.

Obviously, it's a contract year for him so he's trying to earn one last good payday. That said, Harris has been exactly what we need him to be in these playoffs. Someone who can score 20 pts. He's not the most efficient (mostly because of his three point shot), but it doesn't matter much. We have nobody else who can drop 20 besides Cade. He's also been very good on the boards, getting steals, and drawing fouls. We all know he's not a #2 option, yet he's been put into that role on this team. For what he is and what this team needs, he's stepped up. He didn't have a 30 pt game at all in the regular season and I don't think he even strung together two 20 point performance. He's got 6 in a row in the playoffs and has been big in big moments, delivering exactly what this team needs: scoring, "volume" or not.

for me that's the difference for this team as opposed to Isiah's or Chauncey's, I thought those teams should win the championship, whereas I think we all have a good deal of doubt that this team, despite the regular season record, is at the same level as OKC or SAS, which does make it a little more fun in a way. -

A good new story about ex-Piston Vinnie Johnson. He gets a news bit on Yahoo Finance for his automotive parts business building out new production capacity on the old Palace site. https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/technology/articles/former-detroit-pistons-vinnie-johnson-150432087.html

I always consider the Tigers my top Detroit sports team, and because the Lions have never won anything in my lifetime (not even made it to a Super Bowl and let's not talk about the NFC title game a few years back) I'm way more desperate urgent when their seasons go on, so a lot of people think they are my No. 1 when they aren't. But... in my lifetime, when the Pistons are good and start having deep playoff runs (hoping this one is), there has never ever ever ever been a team that is more fun to watch in the postseason than the Pistons for me. There's just something super cool every time about each era. I don't think I will ever experience anything like the Bad Boys' Pistons moving forward each season (and usually each stepping stone had a season-ending depression moment like no other team), watching the Going to Work Pistons just burst in about two seasons to the level they did and just being so much fun to watch. And now we have this team going from the bottom of the dumpster to where they are today. Will they win this series? Who knows. I put them at probably 55 to 60% right now, with game 2 having the ability to move that percentage up at least 10% either way. But, the resurgence that started a bit into last season's regular season and then just kept growing this season has been incredibly fun. The playoffs are feeling that magic vibe right now as well with what happened in the opening round, particularly game #6. Again, I don't know if they are going to win this series and advance. We'll find out in due time. But when the Pistons are good, I really don't know if there is a better Detroit sports team that I enjoy when they are good. The Wings' progression during the Yzerman era was fun as well. The Colorado rivalry and all that. But, something always captures my imagination when the Pistons are good. A lot of it probably extends to it was much easier to be part of those rides, getting to games. Even if they were getting to the Palace right when the doors opened for road playoff games to get the best seats for PalaceVision games for something like $2 or $4, you always felt like you could be part of it. Heck, one of the years when the Bad Boys won the title we had NBA Championship tshirts at the Palace about 20 minutes after they won the title - and the game wasn't even at the Palace. With the Wallace Pistons, the team was so poor for so long, the corporate people didn't swallow up the entire Palace immediately, and it was always easy to get regular season tickets and playoff tickets right up to the season they won the title. And kids could get them as well, and gosh did having 18 to 25 year olds that could afford tickets and be enthusiastic make those crowds magic. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree (most probably), but at least for me, nothing beats when the Pistons are good as a Detroit sports fan. -

Do you think it's out of gas at this point though? What I mean is that they've survived the pressure to release anything more to this point, and I don't see where there is any leverage left to get past the current stonewall. So you have the possibility that like everything else with Trump, it will just recede into the rear view mirror. Fox will latch on to some story about a trans high school athlete and the RW outrage machine will back page Epstein. I have the same question about IRAN. It's done more to dent Trump's popularity than anything, but will the voters remember 30 days after if gasoline prices start back down?

yeah - I don't know what Keith has to do to get a shot to play everyday - hit a few HR I guess. Hinch does love the long ball - not without good reason. He's had a total of 7 AB against LHP this season, 1K 1H. - Today

Speaking of Harris. Harden was the primary defender on Harris for the most possessions last night at 27. Harris had an EFG% of 83% in those possessions. Pistons need to exploit that matchup even more in game #2.

I think the Epstein thing is far worse for Trump than people believe, and that's even after people have already baked in the idea that he is a serial sexual abuser of minors.
