OK, but I think the Tigers current administration has not been around long enough to have established a pattern.
Personally, I liked Dombrowski's philosophy of not once going to arbitration as a Tigers GM. I like a GM that is tough with opponents rather than his own players.
Which is why Frank Beckman turned down the Tigers play-by-play job when Ernie was fired. He knew the next guy would get dumped on and he'd get his chance pretty quickly.
I think it was simply a case of not coming to terms yet before the deadline and they have to exchange figures by that deadline, so they did, while still negotiating. The negotiations could have been over the nature of the club option and the salary for 2024 already decided. There could have no animosity or hard feelings beyond simple business between player and org like every situation. Just lawyers not in any big hurry. Fans created the drama because of the arb deadline to exchange figures which in their situation was probably a moot point.
There was this perfect storm of archaic goal crease rules, the addition of video goal replay, and a generation of much more athletic goalies. Created a giant mess. I remember how bad the it was waiting on almost every single playoff goal to see if it would actually count.
There aren't enough hours in the date to hear all the great music that is easily and readily available. Anyone who says there isn't good music anymore just isn't open minded or they aren't trying to find it. It's everywhere.
Basically, I'm exhausted by all this. If people do not see Trump for what he is at this point, I have zero patience for them as at BEST they are too stupid to function in society. At worst, they have evil in their hearts.
