  1. I don't know that that is necessarily true. Their only loss was to Notre Dame (still can't square up their loss to Marshall and then beating Clemson & UNC). They would be a power 5 champion. They have a QB that is getting some notoriety. They have a highly respected/regarded head coach on the back 9 of his career. There is no objective way to fill the 4 playoff spots. They may decide the conference championship is more valuable this year than what Tennessee did. I think that can be debated, and I might not agree with it. But the committee is going to do what the committee is going to do.
  2. Yes, beating Arizona, Texas Tech, and Minnesota would show more than beating Colorado State, Hawaii, and Connecticut.
  3. I kind of hope Philly gets into a bench clearing brawl whilst wearing those jerseys. How many damn jerseys are needed? George Blaha mentioned at the beginning of last night's game that it looked odd for Detroit to be wearing the traditional road blue jersey as the road team and for Boston to be wearing the traditional home white jersey as the home team.
  4. OMG!!! VERLANDER OPTED OUT!!!! HE'S COMING BACK!!!
  5. I can see the fullish moon in the sky still. Are we sure the moon isn't a big baseball with white stitching?
  6. The irony with LSU would be that they were the first and only 2 loss team to be involved in the BcS championship. But, recalling my hatred for Brian Kelly, I would prefer Brian Kelly crawled up some rickety scaffolding in 50+ MPH winds and, oh, never mind. As far as 2 & 3 go, it'll be fun to see how things play out. How about this, is North Carolina out of it? Their schedule is junk, but if they beat Clemson in the ACC championship, if TCU loses twice, does the committee take Georgia (should they win out), the B10 champion (should they win out), UNC, and a one loss PAC championship game winner?
  7. Should strength of schedule become a determining factor to break ties, do you really think Colorado State, Hawaii, and UConn are advantageous bullet points on a resume?
  8. Bellarmine won the Atlantic Sun postseason tournament last season, but was ineligible for the NCAA tournament. As part of its transition from Division II to Division I (last season being its 2nd in D-I), it is ineligible for the NCAA tourney for 2 more seasons. What a load of crap. They've gone 10-3 (2nd) and 11-5 (3rd) in its two seasons in the A-Sun and they're ineligible for the field of 68? That's the quintessential traveshamockery.
  9. I'd want someone that can handle 1B but also other IF positions. Probably moreso the latter than the former. Because if Torkelson makes the team, Cabrera hangs on, and Meadows rebounds, there's not a lot of opportunities for a lefty hitting 1B.
  10. So, I think that the chances were probably slim to begin with, but given the message from Harris about LHH IF and RHH OF, the Castros, Reyes, Clemens, and Cameron should be updating their resumes. I'll say of the five, zero make it through the first forty man grind. And I will spell the numbers out just to be that guy.
  11. Tough to have many platoons when the roster carries 13 (minimum) pitchers and Cabrera. Baez will play everyday. Greene has probably earned that spot. Ideally Torkelson can get there. If they do keep Candelario and he can revert back to 2020-2021, that would help.
  12. That's probably the case. I've also noticed quite a few multi sign yards the other way with a Majewski and a Vance sign, maybe another random R, but no DeWine. Maybe I just subjectively notice what I notice. But it is what it is.
  13. I kind of got a kick out of the yard sign combo of Kaptur, Ryan, and DeWine in front of someone's house by our locales. You don't see many mixed ticket yard sign combos out there.
  14. In erasable sharpie.
  15. They might just go for a one or two year filler at LHB IF. I saw Jace Peterson and Adam Frazier mentioned as possibilities. I don't know about any combo of Candelario/Schoop coming back. Sure, Candelario is lefty hitting, but his contract isn't guaranteed. Schoop's contract is on the books for 2023. Maybe the hitting side of the plate and the salary commitments matter, maybe one matters more than the other, maybe neither matter at all. Tomorrow is going to be kind of like Christmas. We don't know what we'll find under the 40 man tree.
  16. "Trump is livid,....., screaming at everyone". Isn't that any random Wednesday? Heck, isn't that any random day?
  17. They're busy picking up that extra shift at Sears in the shoe department.
  18. Seems to make sense. Add another catcher to the mix, too.
  19. Detroit Pistons vs Boston Celtics
  20. For a second there I thought we were in the basketball thread.
  21. I don't think the calendar timing of a game should matter. A win in that game is a win in that game, all other things held constant.
  22. TCU beat a 1-8 Colorado, something called Tarleton State, and 5-4 SMU. UofM beat 2-7 Colorado State, 2-8 Hawaii, and 5-5 UConn. I'm not sure one out of conference is any more impressive than the other, but that's just me.
