  1. You know, it seems like toy manufacturers missed out on the Catholic school nun action figure market. They could come with boxing gloves as a default I suppose. But then you also sell rulers and coffee mugs and chalk and chalkboard erasers and books as additional weapons for separate purchase.
  2. Yes, it does seem cheap. But, along with inflation, add in the growth of the game over time from then to now. Tickets for tonight range from $14/each to $2,250 for a pair along the baseline (where if you are lucky, Drunk Uncle Tom Gores might spill a drink on you..... if he shows up). Such a primitive box score then:
  3. Buyer beware? There's been ample warning of FraudyFive. Maybe listen and think a little more next time.
  4. That's good stuff. I never thought to check the box score.
  5. They definitely don't need another LHH OF, at least in terms of quantity. But he would bring the versatility of 2B and LHH IF was on the wish list, so OK, that'd be nice. Schoop's bat may bounce back next year. I have doubts that he can retain this defensive mastery that seems to have been bestowed upon him. I think that's a bit of a product of the shift vs LHHs. He's got the glove and the arm. The range might be exposed with no shifts. Regardless, they still need to figure out long term solutions for 2B & 3B and short term for at least one of them (assuming Schoop handles one or the other in 2023).

  7. Maybe he was blindfolded?
  8. Trumpble gum cards? Do they come with the tasteless sliver of bubble gum, too?
  9. Egads,...... his AAA numbers are horrific. I guess that explains the 21 SOs and 1 BB in his 41 PA MLB debut.
  10. Excuse me, that's "idiotnets".
  11. So what happened in the summer? Was he tipping pitches and giving up hard contact which would help explain the BABIP? I hate to assume Fetter can fix anything or create a pitcher out of nothing. At the same time, he's done some good work. I think this is worth a try. The SO/BB isn't exactly what is desired. But this move intrigues me.
  12. Can't be many of those over the last two decades.
  13. Precisely. If the younger hitters can rebound/mature, if the pitchers can stay healthy, if they can polish up a high level minor leaguer or 3 that could be ready for 2024.....
  14. Kinda makes you wonder what Sister Jean would get to pitch if she wasn't tied up with that nun gig.
  15. It went to the new lights. Maybe now the hitters can see what they are swinging at.
  16. Chicago has a $14M team option with a $1M buyout on Anderson for the 2024 season. They ain't not picking it up.
  17. I'm considering opting out.
  18. I suspect an overpay for him.
  19. That makes perfect sense. I'm not surprised to see him be more aggressive this season. Guys develop differently. He was a rookie last season, and that started out late for him. So he's trying to pick up being a pro on the court, meanwhile teammates and opponents have 10-15 games under their belts. It might not seem like much, but to a rookie, that could be something. I would like to see Bey on the bench despite this Cunningham set back. I think his future with the Pistons is as wing off of the bench. And maybe he isn't really a long term player for the Pistons. But he seems to be playing better off of the bench, and at the very least, that might help his trade value. This opens up ample playing time for Hayes for Detroit to see what he can do. Its probably no better than 3rd guard, but there's value in that if he can accept it. It wouldn't be the same trio as Thomas/Dumars/Johnson, but can Cunningham/Ivey/Hayes develop into an upper playoff guard trio? Stewart's outside game development could provide some real dividends to opening up the lane. Just keeping the opponent honest by providing some risk at double teaming Cunningham. He has learned to stay out of foul trouble which seemed to plague him early on and he seems to have matured a bit on the court. Can he add another tool in the 3 to his belt? Edit to add: It sucks to see Cunningham lose his sophomore season. But there are still opportunities to improve upon a possible core (primary or secondary) of the team for the future. Or at least figure out who can be a viable part of a playoff rotation.
  20. Should be fun at the next CBA and listening to owners cry and complain about some of these long term deals that they cannot resist offering.
  21. The maths of future cash flows and present values might square the deals up closer than they look at face value. Although I guess neither one of them are cutting out coupons from the Sunday paper.
  22. Chuck ain't wrong.
  23. Rest in piracy.
