  1. That's a fair question.
  2. Ha! That was my first reaction, too, but I am also reminded of the fact that Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh, so maybe they flubbed this one up. I agree, a lot of the bluster about Andujar is likely from 2018 rather than the past few seasons. I don't know what's happened with him that last few seasons. Maybe there's a reclamation project here, maybe there's not. Like I said, I wouldn't claim him, but if he becomes nothing more than a minor league contract type of player, then what are the Tigers out if he doesn't even make Toledo?
  3. I don't think I would claim Andujar, but I'd be interested in offering him a minor league deal with an invite to camp. He doesn't seem like the type of control the strike zone player that Harris has mentioned. He does have a lower career SO% than league average (16.7% vs 22.6%), but he also has a career BB% lower than league average (4.1% vs 8.5%). The Tigers have several options from which to choose for 3B (and, sure, let's be honest about the quality in spite of the quantity), but it seems like RHH corner OF is still kind of shallow. Maybe he serves as nothing more than depth at Toledo in case of chaos among 3B/OF in Detroit.
  4. My amateurish guess is that the way to envision prospects and their future values is more along the shape of a triangle such that the upper prospects are few and far between and as you descend from one tier to the next, the population of similarly skilled players expands. So, just for grins, the top 3-5 prospects are a tier, then you've got another dozen that are about the same, then another 25 that make up the next group, and on and on. But a lot of folks like to get focused on cardinal ordering rather than relative grouping.
  5. It faces Canada. Who doesn't like Canada?
  6. Only 36 more days until the first spring training game.
  7. I forgot to record the game. I didn't realize it until about 5pm ET, even though I knew the game started at 3pm ET. Guess I saved myself about 2 hours.
  8. George Santos is taking credit for it.
  9. Tigers Hire Tim Federowicz As Catching Coach
  10. Well, you're no fun to my theory.
  11. I am guessing Avila was on the crapper or something when it was time to draft Skubal. Someone else made that move. That's my theory.
  12. If only they could'of landed on an independent team like the Long Island Ducks or something. That could'of been a docuseries right there.
  13. Oh, we might find out that history (Smith) has repeated itself (Avila).
  14. Candelario might not be a cornerstone for the next playoff team, but is he taking time away from a possible cornerstone of the next playoff team? I think he’s a good candidate to bounce back. If he does bounce back, I don’t think he’s going to get a next contract that’s expensive in years or salary. Although now that I think about it, I didn’t expect to see Correa sign 3 deals in one off-season, so what the heck do I know?
  15. Where would you have him? What if they had him at 101? Is there much difference between the two?
  16. Maybe you should send the instant pot to Edman as a gesture of gratitude.
  17. Yes, perfectly. It kind of makes me wonder how fans might react towards Harris if Candelario does bounce back to a 2021 type season.
  18. When Shepard was named permanent play-by-play, I thought there would be gradual improvement over the years. Maybe with Morris out of the booth, he can be a little less stark struck and improve upon where he is? I do think that could be part of the issue. Then again, I'm of the age where I've heard a lot of broadcasting by guys that ranged from pretty darn good to iconic, and I think a lot of other folks around these parts fit my demographic. Have we been spoiled? Are we expecting too much? Is what we get from TV similar to what happens for a lot of other MLB teams?
  19. My mother-in-law buys us scratch offs for Christmas. I would rather have the cash. I used to have to deal with the lottery when I worked in a grocery store in the past. Yes, a lot of "frequent flyers", and sad because this store was in a lower income area.
  20. So we ain't heading to the casino this weekend?
  21. Was it just the normal clock stopping shenanigans exacerbated to a higher degree?
  22. Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons
  23. I thought bbref had number of different lineups used in a season, but maybe they don't? It'd be interesting to see what the total was last season and this year will stack up next to it.
