  1. That would be the best thing right now. Let him get his legs healthy, do whatever procedures need to be taken care of right now. Hopefully he can be a league average hitter with better mobility next season. Sending him out there every other game right now and shorting the bench a healthy body doesn't make sense.
  2. He hasn't earned the right to go out on his terms. And if he demands to play 1B and hit 3rd next season, they should give in to him? What if he packs on another 20 over the offseason and his healthy run in spring training is the same as his unhealthy trot to 1B last night? Oh well, he's earned the right to be an abomination of a professional athlete?
  3. If they put Cabrera on the IL, they could call up another Carpenter to strike out. Then we could both be happy. Hooray! 😆
  4. The team as a whole sucks. Keeping a broken down athlete on the team that cannot even jog at a brisk pace doesn't help matters. He's clearly unhealthy, there has been chatter about his right knee. Maybe it'd be wise to have that thing taken care of now before next season begins? A responsible front office would park his out of shape and injured ass on the injured list and call a functional athlete up to replace his .... checking stats again..... 88 OPS+. 88 OPS+? Oh, but he smiles pretty for the camera and he's yucking it up for his teammates and he's the previous owner's pet and there's absolutely no way to replace that kind of offensive production. They score 0 runs a lot and they have to carry the immobile part time DH with an OPS+ of 88?
  5. OK, so he grabbed the wrong bottle. Those things are typically stored alphabetically, and it should go ....sunblock, steroids, Tinactin, Tums,...., but someone (probably Hosmer or Voit on their way out the door) switched up the steroids and Tinactin.
  6. Oh, I apologize, its perfectly acceptable to have a one legged DH. Please proceed with the Cabrera slobberfest.
  7. N-o. H-no. F-no. Eastern Notes: Pistons, D. Green, Celtics, Sixers
  8. Sweet! Another arm to call up and injure.
  9. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/tigers-vs-white-sox/2022/08/12/661384#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=661384 Unacceptable. There's no reason a baseball player shouldn't have legged this out and gotten themselves on as the tying run in a 2-0 baseball game.
  10. But, hey, at least people got to see him play in this game.
  11. Only a couple of grand slams short.
  12. Reads to me as the rest of this season, 2023 ($32M), and either he plays in 2024 ($30M) or is bought out from 2024 ($8M). So minimum of $40M after this season seems to be correct if its as simple as Cots has it laid out.
  13. Detroit Tigers (43-71) at Chicago White Sox (57-56)
  14. Fixed it for you.
  15. I was in there for a short bit before you left. Wasn’t CJ Nitkowski in there a few times, too? I remember Baseball Weekly had an article about the internet and baseball merging more and Nitkowski was one of the players known to interact with fans over the interwebs. Look at where things are now with Twitter and the like. Crazy how it’s evolved. @RedRamage dragged me over here from some alt sport baseball Detroit Tiger message board around 2003 or 2004. He’d been talking about this site for quite a while. There were a few other folks that migrated over from there, fewer still active here now. So you morans can blame Red.
  16. Valid point, sir.
  17. Norris is going tonight? I tell you what, I just got back from the beach, traveling via van, and I feel absolutely zen as hell. I’m stoked for tonight. I’m calling 8-2 victory tonight. Jump on the bandwagon early, seats are still available, but we set sail promptly at 7:10p.
  18. On the flip side, because of Meadows’ fielding deficiencies, isn’t he a bit of an obstacle as well? Ideally, this team should have as many two way performers as possible in the daily lineup.
  19. I wouldn’t go at him for immediate retirement. But as if he now, if he isn’t available to play on a daily basis he need to go to the IL. Now, longer term, there needs to be a discussion about being in shape and ready to go for next season. At Cabrera’s age, sure, there’s going to be more aches and pains. But I don’t think Cabrera is doing himself (or his team) any favors with his conditioning.
  20. I thought we weren’t s’posed to mention that? I thought this was discussed at the Liston Rule V party?
  21. Until divisions get reracked, you are correct. I suspect that could be the same if MLB realigns before expanding. Detroit would likely be a swing team with no real rivalry (like putting the New Yorks together in the same division), but even then, they’re probably going to be added in with similar rust belt and/or middle markets.
  22. There’s a lot of grit and badass in that picture.
  23. My first instinct is to say UoM & OSU will never not be at noon. And then I remember USC & UCLA will be in the Big Ten soon. Is this a haiku? What did I just do? Oh, no, its a limerick, you buffoon.
  24. Good for him. Maybe this can get things going for him.
  25. Still trying to get a count on this season.
