  1. Clueless guys like Fled won’t do anything until their own are mowed down. And even then, they may still do nothing.
  2. Whitaker (2B), Trammell (SS),…..
  3. Neifi would be so proud.
  4. Are you new here?
  5. I fully understand the desire to have a Marwin Gonzalez clone. But you're right, CastroW ain't that.
  6. Well, let's look at this from another angle. We get to watch CastroW's fielding foibles, and there is a, how shall I say this, macabre entertainment value by watching him drop to his knees and lean over to his left to catch a fly ball. Its kind of like watching kids learn how to catch fly balls. There's some measure of childlike amusement to it. Am I right? Nah, this is awful, he needs to be demoted, immediately.
  7. Its not just that the replacements are worse. Its that there are no replacements, period. 2 Cs, and 1 DH only out of 12 position players. That's only 9 guys to cover 7 defensive positions. And they have to manage normal rest days, too. How are so many hitters below career norms/expectations? How can, essentially everyone, be in a slump?
  8. I think I know where you're trying to get to, but I don't think that creates the change that needs to be made. I don't think the culture changes until those with high stakes in keeping the current gun culture alive suffer these kinds of consequences themselves.
  9. How about a regatta instead?
  10. Just to add to the choice of reliever discussion, I would go with the best available RP. It doesn't matter if its the closer, the stopper, playing match ups, whatever. I don't think the Tigers have any RP worthy of designating a closer/stopper right now. Chafin is probably as good of a choice as any. I know some folks would argue to hold the closer (which the Tigers may have in name, but he's hardly shut down) until the Tigers (as the road team) get the lead when the game gets into the 9th or later. I have no problem bringing that best pitcher into a tie game in order to get to the next inning.
  11. There was Rodriguez' effort, and also the Tigers scratched back into it. Sucks to lose in the 9th, but they didn't fold in the 1st.
  12. I agree with you. It just didn't work out.
  13. Elmn Castro.
  14. Will it get him through the year? Hey, it was a fun story last season. But it seems to have been a good couple of months, and no more.
  15. Right. Most of the options have been awful. A poke in the eyes or a kick to the chotzkies, which would be preferable?
  16. Next thread: Corn Flakes or Frosted Flakes? Kelloggs or store brand? Skim milk or whole milk?
  17. Wasn’t there a full moon a couple of weeks ago? Did it decide to stay full?
  18. One of the few (6) with an above average OPS. Sad but true. Sadder and still true? Only 3 of those 6 are available to play tonight.
  19. Keep your eyes up, champ.
  20. Nope. No evidence in the college threads.
  21. We're missing the obvious. They're pitching to Javy Baez like he's Neifi Perez. Its just that simple.
  22. During the rainout? Hmmmm….. you might be onto something.
  23. I agree that he was resigned in part because he was well liked. It may have been a situation where the Tigers let him shop himself around with the understanding that they would be willing to bid above. Now as far as Ilitch not spending the money elsewhere, I disagree. That was his drunken sailor era. Perhaps he wouldn’t have signed anyone else that offseason (I really don’t remember when it occurred and who else was out there), but he wasn’t shy about making it rain. The Prince Fielder signing is an example of that.
