  1. A tournament league? Adam Silver is on line one and would like to speak to you.
  2. Allez les bleu, blanc, et rouge!
  3. If Killian Hayes ain’t playing, I ain’t watching. Said only one person ever.
  4. Ok, how does the +21 compare to his previous seasons? Or how does it compare among 2B in recent seasons where heavy shifting has been employed? That +21 just sticks out way too much from those other players. Speaking of shifts, last night was the first time that I’ve seen a 4 OF / 3 IF alignment live and in person. We were behind the plate in the upper tank when the Blue Jays pulled this shift for Kyle Schwaber. My oldest daughter realized it right away and asked me what was going on. (Made me proud that she picked up on it, maybe I’m doing a decent job of parenting?)
  5. Might as well win today.
  6. Yeah, I didn’t think he could turn it around, but he has. Good for all.
  7. Ah, maybe thats why they played 13 innings despite no tie after 9.
  8. Speaking of such things, was at tonight’s Blue Jay game. They list lineups and use OPS on the JumboTron rather than the traditional AVG.
  9. I don’t know. The Tigers did receive Reese Olson for Daniel Norris, so there’s always a chance, right? But this doesn’t excuse batting Grossman 3rd in the lineup or demoting Clemens.
  10. This makes me laugh and cry. Which emoji do I use for that?
  11. Can we assume all of the bigs currently on the roster will still be on the roster come opening night?
  12. In fairness to Avila, Hinch (ah, remember when he was the author of all things good?), or any Other GM looking to peddle Grossman, what are they reasonably going to get for him?
  13. Maybe he has an allergy to ping pong tables that has not been diagnosed?
  14. Let’s see what position Clemens plays in Toledo. If he’s playing a lot of 3B, it might make a little more sense.
  15. I would say there’s merit, but it’s based on past seasons. I don’t know how much that should factor in or when the current season surpasses the resume. Maybe they’re just getting to the all start break at this point, I don’t know.
  16. I don’t understand this angle either. Outside of the principle parties, it’s an unknown issue at this time. But people like to make assumptions, so here we are.
  17. I agree with you about Pineda. Now, he did arrive with durability concerns, but the injury he sustained was a line drive off of the bat that he couldn’t get his hand out of the way of. That was kind of a flukey deal. His FIP is a little high, he allows too many HRs and doesn’t strike out many, but I don’t think he’s been disappointing considering what the expectations were. Coolbaugh and the bats shoulder a good deal of blame for this season’s malaise.
  18. Might as well win today, eh?
  19. Yeah, this makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Wasn’t it just last week we were talking about Gibson and Higginson being chosen over Thames in 2005?
  20. It sure didn’t take long.
  21. Of course, it’s baseball. That’s not how it works for any random game. How are the Tigers 7-2 vs Cleveland this season?
  22. I’d disagree with you on the opportunity cost involved with the salary if the Tigers are on the hook for it going forward. And you could throw in the time wasted chasing him instead of another SP this past off-season (although to be honest, I forget who else was out there, and I liked the premise of going after Rodriguez). This story is kind of on the back burner for me. I don’t think anyone knows exactly what’s going on. The lack of communication is frustrating to hear and it sounds like the Tigers are pretty exasperated by the deal. Whatever the case, he’s not available. This situation feeds into the revolving door of SPs, but that has kind of sustained some measure of competitiveness. The offense has been abysmal. So, it’s easy to focus frustration on the offense. But as others have called out, what happens to the young arms that have been admirably filling in so far? What will be left to pitch in the second half of the season?
  23. I had Achilles tendinitis around this time last year in my left leg. It sucked. I’m no athlete, but I like to bicycle a few times a week, maybe getting 30-50 miles a week depending on what’s going on. I had to give that up for about a month. Rest it, ice it, raise it every once in a while, do some light stretching with an exercise band. This was one foot. I can see a pro athlete pushing it too quickly and exacerbating the issue, especially with it in both legs. Granted he’s probably getting better care and rehab than some hack like me. But this was also in both legs, and he needs both to do his job every day which is quite a bit more than biking a few times a week.
