Haslem has had an appreciated career. Sure, he's only playing a handful or regular season games the past 6 seasons, but he's still going. Kudos to him. And clearly there is some significant value to him if he's stayed with Miami the whole time. Not bad for being an undrafted kid that had to go oversees for a season and didn't crack the NBA until 23. That's old for a debut anymore. Spoelstra is pretty cool, calm, and collected during the whole thing, at least in terms of his nonverbal cues. Quietly he's in his 14th season as head coach. I may be wrong, but it seems like he's kind of faded into the background as far as coaching notoriety is concerned. I don't think he's forgotten. But you never hear anything bad about him and he's generally quiet on the national front.

LOCKOUT '22: When will we see baseball again?
casimir replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
Greenfield Village was doing an old time baseball weekend years ago. My wife & I went to the village and watched part of a game. Ernie Harwell happened to be there commentating on it via loudspeaker, more or less explaining the different rules and conversing with one of the organizers. At the beginning of every at bat, the umpire would direct the hitter "striker, show your preference", and the hitter would indicate for a pitch locale (high or low) within the strike zone.- 1,851 replies

I wear my helmet whenever I go out on my bike. I don't know if I'll encounter a deer that I spook and it knocks me off my bike, or who knows what else. But, I guess, since you clearly have nothing to protect between your ears, you do you. I'll keep wearing my helmet. OK, champ? Additionally, bike helmets and baskets don't look anywhere as ridiculous as most of the drivel that you post here.

Yes, that's the issue with assuming Alexander as the 6th SP. If he makes the big league, which he probably should, that timing of needing a spot start might not coincide with him being available. If he pitched a few innings yesterday and they find out today that tomorrow's starter can't go, then what? Bullpen game? Drag tomorrow's Toledo SP up for a spot start? I guess these kinds of situations just get dealt with on the fly. Now, if a SP goes down for an extended period of time, I think they can build Alexander up to a SP stamina. Or maybe they have somebody like Faedo/Wentz just proving themselves in Toledo at that point, and its an easy roster exchange. Either way, they're going to need probably around a dozen starts from Ps outside of whomever the 5 in the rotation are when they break camp.

They should randomly pick people from the stands to be the ghost runner and then dress them in the mascot costume of the team that they are running for.- 1,851 replies

Atlanta Hawks (36-36) vs Detroit Pistons (19-53)

Would Holgrem be quick enough to guard a smaller lineup? Would he be strong enough to play the more traditional big if the other 4 are too small/quick for him to handle?

If that were the case, I would hope the Pistons land at 2 and can trade down to 5-7, acquiring other goodies along the way.

I wonder what that looks like as a per contract season average.- 1,851 replies

03/21/2022 07:00 EST Portland Trail Blazers @ Detroit Pistons

They fell behind big & early and it held up. I turned the recording off about 1/2 way through the 3rd and I guess I missed a run to climb back into the game in the 4th. Was shocked to see a final margin of 4. -
Hate to say that the Pistons are in a good position, but there seems to be a tier for the top (bottom) 4 spots and then a mosh pit at 5 through 12. A 5 game cushion between 2/3 & 5 with 20 games is looking pretty decent. Oklahoma City is doing as a good job lately.

Stay healthy, dude.

It seems like they see a window in front of them right now.

That might be a popular line of thought. But it takes just one owner with a desire to make a move to push their team over the next obstacle in front of them. Don’t forget, the Tigers used to have one of those owners not too long ago.

Soto on in the 3rd. Hinch wasn't messing around when he said he wasn't necessarily going to wait until the 9th to deploy Soto.
