  1. Undefeated Wake Forest is about to be formerly undefeated Wake Forest. Still a good season for that program.
  2. That’s funny.
  3. Did Dr. Rogan also recommend to Rodgers that stuffing his helmet with circus peanuts would prevent further CTE damage?
  4. Bingo. The Tigers aren't buying Myers, they are buying San Diego's desire to move Myers. How much does San Diego want to move Myers? Drew Pomeranz was also mentioned in that CBS article. What kind of prospect package does San Diego want to attach to Myers & Pomeranz? Can Pomeranz be productive out of the bullpen for two seasons? What would need to go the other way?
  5. Let's simplify things a bit.
  6. I wouldn't take Hosmer & Myers to get a prospect. For one, Hosmer has no place on the Tigers. There's just nowhere for him unless Torkleson suddenly becomes a 3Bdude and Cabrera retires. Then they could have Hosmer/Torkelson/Candelario bouncing around the infield corners and DH, but that ain't likely. Grossman starts in the OF. Baddoo has probably earned a roster spot. Hill's health.... I don't know. Is Greene ready for MLB? That might be the OF there, Grossman in a corner with Greene/Baddoo/Hill filling out CF and the other corner. A 5th OF would likely be someone that can handle IF as well. Or would they gamble with 2 lefty hitting CFs in Greene/Baddoo and corners of Grossman/Myers/Baddoo in order to grab a prospect? This would probably assume Hill in Toledo, if he has options. Myers' bat would be welcome for a season, but defensively its a tough fit. Is Grossman a trade chip this offseason?
  7. It would seem like he wouldn't be a target unless all the FA SSs go elsewhere and/or the Tigers pull in top tiered type SPs.
  8. I like looking at JAWS for that peak performance. A seven year window doesn't necessarily apply for all, but it seems a reasonable approximation.
  9. Dick Allen just needs Drunk Uncle Tony to speak well on his behalf.
  10. MLB's top 20 offseason trade candidates: Byron Buxton, Josh Hader, and Craig Kimbrel among big names A couple of Tiger notes that have kicked around MTS/MTF: I don't see where Hosmer fits in with that length of a contract. Myers could be a one & done, but would the clumsy OF work be worth it? Hassell had a nice pro ball debut, but I don't know much else about him. DeJong's bat has declined every season since his rookie year. His BABIP, line drive/ground ball/fly ball rates were all awful last season. Does he just need a trip to a decent eye doctor?
  11. That's why I hope the plan is for the Tigers to consider him no more than end of the rotation this season. Fill out towards the top of the rotation.
  12. I don’t know, I just don’t have much have in Manning for some reason.
  13. I thought in general they played well tonight. It wasn’t apparent that they played the night before. They moved the ball around pretty well. Good energy and rotations on defense. Early foul trouble on Stewart stunk. They’re still a poor shooting team.
  14. Opportunity cost.
  15. That’s going to be quite a leap for someone that was more of a thrower than a pitcher last season.
  16. Its a damn shame O'Neill wasn't inducted when alive. That'd have been a wonderful speech. The man was a fantastic orator. He could probably hold the room mesmerized by just reading a label on a can of soup.
  17. He really got his BBs under control in 2021 (6.7% BB% vs career 10.3%) and seemed to benefit from a low BABIP (.269 vs .309). In fact, his last season is a clear outlier (well, OK, 2015 compares). I don't know that its worth banking on going forward.
  18. Manning shouldn't be considered more than the 5th SP for next season.
  19. Yes, if Kreidler is the real deal, they can find playing time for him eventually. Schoop is only guaranteed one season, he can opt out of 2023 if he chooses. Cabrera is close to 500 and who knows what sort of shape he will be in after 2022. I think it'd be best to see what he can do in Toledo to start off 2022 and then go from there.
  20. The standard buds that come with phones never stay in my ears. I have found a pair with hooks that go over my ears that are connected to each other with a rubber/nylon wire/lanyard type thing. The wire annoys the back of my neck, so I place it under neck which surely makes me look a dork.
  21. Update: The north tree is turning colors. They mentioned on the news last night that peak color is about 2 weeks late this week due to the longer lasting warm weather.
  22. Well, OK, in before/after comparison to the baseline.
  23. Kreidler had a poor May which kind of dogged his Erie experience. Maybe it took him longer to shake of 2020 rust? Maybe BABIP wasn't his friend? Maybe started the season out swinging for the downs too much?
  24. I think I'd rather wait a bit on Kreidler's ascendency to MLB. One thing that pops out at me is his BB/SO ratio. Its quite a mix among the different levels of minors that he has played. 20/61 in 257 PAs at A, 32/119 in 388 PAs at AA, and 24/39 in 162 PAs at AAA. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. What happened with his SOs in Erie? What happened with his BBs in Toledo? I think the other thing that sticks out to me is that he's got somewhat similar college and pro ball numbers (AVG/OBP/SLG for sure). I don't know at all, but I would assume there would be some sort of regression going from college to the minors. Look, I think he's intriguing, but I want to see more out of him in Toledo.
  25. Stewart's drive & dunk was a thing of beauty. The Pistons were in this going into the 4th. Sure, the 76ers were down a couple of players, but it was a definite improvement over the previous game. Agree that Cunningham started to get it going a bit. I'm fine with being patient to begin the year. He's new to the league, new to the team, and was just cleared with no restrictions. It'll be interesting to see how he does tonight.
