  1. Hey I didn't know that Bobby Kennedy Jr is a leading anti-vaxxer and dog-whistle racist. I just read about him in The Guardian. You sometimes just have to laugh at how stupid some of these second generation political royalty kids are.
  2. When you hear "fully vaccinated" it means two, not three. Data about "boosted" is not revealed yet because there aren't enough of them to matter. I think that the answer to "how worried should I be" depends upon your habits. If you maintain social distancing and keep to 100% mask discipline, you should be at relatively safe. Of course, "100% mask discipline" means that you don't go to restaurants, or anywhere else where food consumption is used as an excuse to remove masks.
  3. Brilliant.
  4. Restaurants are going back to 50% capacity. I think we are headed for another lockdown, experts are forecasting daily cases at 10,000 by Christmas Day.
  5. If he makes the major league team, he can teach them a haka to perform before each game. The Red Sox and the Yankees would crap their pants.
  6. But he is the one who applies the description "democratic socialist" to himself, which is harmful to a centrist position.
  7. Canada just dropped the dumbass travel restrictions against those 10 African countries. Instead, there will be increased screening of arrivals from every country. Today's daily cases in Ontario is 3,100, and the 3 day progression is 1,800 - 2,400 - 3,100. Two thirds of the new cases are fully vaccinated. Two thirds.
  8. It's delusional to think that any "progressive" goals can be achieved with 50 Senators, 2 of whom are Manchin and Sinema. AOC hurts her own cause by not acknowledging this, she looks silly. Hey kids, if you want to achieve your goals, elect more Senators and stop whining. While you are at it, tell Bernie Sanders that health care is the most centrist policy you could imagine. It isn't "progressive" and it sure as heck isn't "democratic socialism", but he has a brand image to project and as a result you get farther away from achieving goals that he shouts about.
  9. He borrowed a clean shirt for that photo.
  10. Blindfold? Cigarette?
  11. Highest number of new cases today in Ontario since May. Two thirds of the new cases are fully vaccinated.
  12. Many people have observed the irony of Trumpers killing off their own supporters by encouraging the stupidity of resisting vaccinations and masking. But "cheering the deaths of conservatives"? You are better than that.
  13. I still want to punch the shit out of that kid, he just has that effect on me.
  14. People are saying that Omicron does not cause serious illness among vaccinated people but I guarantee that it would kill my wife in less than 1 month.
  15. Omicron has been described as a freight train bearing down on us, that might give us 10,000 cases per day in Ontario by the end of January. As many as one-third of daily cases already.
  16. Yes and their nicknames are not there either, I need to know if their teammates call them "Spaz".
  17. Was there a big demand from the general poulation for this?
  18. Ontario new cases are 1,600 per day now, doubled in less than 2 weeks. Every province has experienced a big upturn, and every province will be reintroducing restrictions such as on large events. Every province except Alberta which is a low-IQ zone. The college that I work at was going to go back to live classrooms on January 5, but today they announced that it will stay remote for all of January. I am eligible for a booster on Monday, but getting an appointment might take some time.
  19. Ha ha it does have its convenient aspects.
  20. Did he wear the shorts too, the ones that barely cover his butt?
  21. I'm the youngest of 5, and counting spouses and children and grandchildren there are 25 people. We didn't meet last year, and we aren't meeting this year either. Haven't thought twice about it.
  22. Good. Do they have health insurance? Pull that too.
  23. So...they read newspapers then?
  24. There is a foreign policy columnist that I read regularly, Gwynne Dyer, who sees no threat of Russian invasion. He thinks that there would be no military response from NATO, but that the resulting sanctions would cripple Russia's economy and possibly cost Putin some of his considerable popularity. And it suits Biden very well right now to play up the supposed threat, to pull some attention away from domestic issues. So that's an interesting assessment.
  25. Yes, that was the joke.
