  1. Yes, Christie groveling before Trump in 2016 is a lasting image that he will never be able to shake off.
  2. Thank you. I second the motion, can we stop saying that Chris Ilitch won't spend. He is trying not to spend stupid.
  3. I don't know. Do you have turnout by age group?
  4. Yes, under-30 is a demographic in which low turnout is a chronic issue, and their disappointment about climate initiatives could easily cause them to abstain. And while Americans in general might not vote on foreign policy issues, the university campuses are currently passionate about it and students could stay home on voting day for that reason too.
  5. OK well go ahead and keep blaming boomers for Trump, and I will keep laughing at that.
  6. If Baddoo doesn't make the team it isn't going to be because of the money, his pay will be SFA as a piece of the overall payroll. I like the idea of having him at Toledo, except that his pattern is to rake at Toledo but not necessarily sustain it at Detroit. He might be the classic AAAA player, except for the plus-plus power and speed. That's why he will always be intriguing, and why he will make some pretty useful money for the next 5 years or so.
  7. The Democratic party is losing the under-30 liberals because (a) they think that Biden has done SFA about climate change and (b) they cannot abide the policy that Israel can do no wrong and that if Israel bombs an apartment building it is somehow a war crime that Hamas has committed. That's a non-starter. Point (b) is the key here. Anybody who gives Israel carte blanche to bomb civilian locations in Gaza is playing directly into Trump's hands, by alienating the young voters that the Democratic party so desperately needs. So no, holding off on the LOL about blaming boomers for Trump, I think I would double up on the LOL.
  8. Remember this one? "Trump's popularity will decline every year as more and more boomers die". LOL!
  9. Marcus Stroman, age 32, just opted out of the final year of his contract at $21 mil. So apparently he thinks that he is going to get 3/81 or something? With his history? Come on man.
  10. It's like having a coach out on the field with the other players.
  11. He's the second coming of Fernando Vina. He does all the little things that don't show up in the box score.
  12. I'm just about to. I was 100% in equities (index funds) until last week, and sold it all because Govt of Canada 10 year is above 4% for the first time In 15 years. So I am buying some of that, some Province of Ontario, and some corporates at around 6% although the corporates that I have access to are callable.
  13. It's hard to think of a scenario where a 40 man spot is used on Nevin.
  14. Jimmy Kimmel's writers came up with this, that Don Jr and Eric would be tried as adults.
  15. I don't like stats that I can't figure out for myself. I like the hitting slash line numbers, and I like WHIP and K9. If I have to trust a third party to figure out wOBA, or defensive runs saved, it comes from someone's black box, like OE%. I still don't like WAR because of the time that it proved that the best player in the league was Zobrist.
  16. When I was about 12 I took a book out of the library, Baseballs Greatest Players. Written in the early 60's it had Musial and Williams and all the others, and their stats were in an appendix at the back. I looked at Williams' career and I thought wow, imagine how great he could have been if he didn't take all those walks.
  17. Everybody said at the time of the Cabrera trade was that the Tigers gave up Maybin, Miller, and a bunch of junk that nobody cared about.
  18. An outsider looking in would say that this is very important. An outsider looking in would add that what needs to be included with that thought is the glorification of violence throughout the origin stories of the United States. That is what is truly unique, compared to other countries.
  19. I think that they had their weed FedEx'd to Matt Anderson's house.
  20. Uh oh...a lefthanded hitter who hit a home run off a lefthander.
  21. Roger Clemens once caused a disturbance at a golf course in Toronto, the kid behind the counter wanted him to pay $60 like everybody else, and he didn't think he should have to.
  22. Perhaps, but the point I was trying to make is that 250 grand is such a chicken**** amount of money for him to forfeit his integrity over. If the loan was for 2 million I would understand it better. I also think that your comment would apply better if he were exploiting someone by using their money, when in this case he is clearly the one being exploited.
