  1. I guess I'm way ahead of the curve. I cancelled Disney a couple of years ago. I haven't been to a Disney Property in over 20 years. OK I did go to a Disney movie last weekend. I'm sure Trumpers disapprove of Hamilton though
  2. Of course this was published before the TPUSA Rally yesterday
  3. It resembles the Phillies collapse in 1964. They had a 6.5 game lead over the Cardinals with 12 games left. That included a 10 game losing streak...7 at home followed by three on the road. They did win the last two games but it was too late. The Cardinals went 9-2 during the stretch. Gene Mauch was accused of over using starters Chris Short and Jim Bunning too often, the bats went silent... https://sabr.org/gamesproj/game/september-25-1964-phillies-suffer-5th-straight-defeat-despite-late-homers-by-johnny-callison-****-allen/#:~:text=The Phillies' losing streak eventually, greatest collapses in baseball history.
  4. When you start agreeing with Carl Rove.
  5. This just feels like the best spot for this
  6. I once made a remark to a visitor at Colonial Williamsburg who asked if he could drive down the streets in the Colonial Area. He was a bit offended because I told him there were no cars in 1774. He could ride his horse... Some people just don't understand sarcasm
  7. My wife and i along with a couple thousand other folks had the honor or watching a preview screening of Ken Burns' new film American Revolution last night. The preview was held on the Battlefield in Yorktown, Va. The same grounds that General Cornwallis surrendered (actually, it was the General's second in command) to Gen Washington (it was Washington's second in command). Really nice night, field drills and presentation by the "Commander's Own" drum and bugle corps and Yorktown's Fife and Drum Corps, along with exerts from the six part series. This preview was made specifically for this event with several scenes featuring Yorktown and the Historic Triangle. When we got there my wife flashed back to 1981, the last time she was on this part of the Battlefield. She was a reporter. It was President Reagan's first speech after recovering from his gunshot wounds. The commemorated the 200th anniversary of the Victory at Yorktown. I tagged along that afternoon, but ended up about a half mile or so farther down the road. My view of the event in 1981 was watching the line of Secret Service Agents while hearing only snippets of the speech.
  8. September 21 https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/september-21 BTW in the end the British weren't enamored with him either
  9. If Trump doesn’t get the Nobel PEICE Priz. Bad things are going to happen
  10. Good to see the worst team in the ACC dominating (so far) the worst team in the Southern Conference
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/1939/02/04/archives/goebbels-ends-careers-of-five-aryan-actors-who-made-witticisms.html?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email H/T to Charlie Sykes
  12. The church Trump reported attended while growing up was pastored by Rev Norman Vincent Peale. Peale made a ton of money with his book The Power of Positive Thinking. Peale was also one of the earlier proponents of the Prosperity Gospel. Which IMO clashes with everything I was taught in Sunday School. It's focused too much on Self, Success and Psychology rather than teaching grace, humility, suffering and the effects of too much wealth. I was taught that grace without works is dead.
  13. A quick Google check shows that of the 294 stations Sinclair owns or has a marketing agreement, only 38 are ABC affiliates. Nextar btw owns about 200 stations 23 are ABC affiliates. I think ABC has the power of the purse strings if and when it comes time to renegotiate affiliation agreements
  14. Judging from the timing that I saw of the tv screen message it looks like it could have a problem with the feed. Interesting that they could get it on their YouTube channel but not over the air. This deserves an explanation.
  15. Facts don't matter to megatrolls
  16. Did anybody see this ruling the othe night. Seattle wins in part because KC's second baseman had his heels on the outfield grass when he fielded a ground ball. https://www.mlb.com/news/mariners-royals-shift-violation-challenge
  17. It's all about the dineros. The oligarchs are raking it in. Rich get richer the middle class gets screwed. And all those good Christians keep forgetting the parable of the camel.
  18. It's the suits. If you look at the political history of Sinclair they tend to go extremely right wing in their editorial view. Also look at political donations from the ownership.
  19. Sinclair is an affiliate. They are one of the largest ownership groups in the country. It depends on the market what network they pick up. They were also the one getting the most press on that particular subject.
  20. Any guesses who is going to end up paying these fees in the end
  21. I miss Longs. They were my go to in the summer for sweet corn. Like their cider and donuts as well. Close enough to the house to stop by in the middle of the week and skip the crowds
  22. Nor the Presbyterian or Church of the Brethren churches I used to know.
  23. I've been out of the game for so long I'm not sure it matters. Oh, for the days of that dreaded phone call. "The FCC's in town". Way back then we knew his first name. We all scrambled to get our **** in order. I doubt that happens now
